Gibson Basses / Re: A solo on a heavily modified Slot head EB 0

I'm pretty sure that this is not for everyone here but when Joey Demaio was mentioned in other topics people kept asking why he has this insane close string spacing on his basses, well, here's why.

Yeesh! I made it through 2 1/2 minutes. That instrument does NOT qualify as a bass. Joey, get yourself a good old guitar and wank away to your hearts content!

I must agree with Uwe and the rest of you folks!. What a boring solo! But this brings me to a favourite of mine, concerning bass solos, The Zombies and She's not there. Effective.

Perfect! I'll take that over Victor Wooten any day. No offense, he seems like a nice guy and all, but....  :bored:

It's such a tease!

Roman asked me for my address earlier this week, now nothing

Same here too.

Basvarken, that bass looks great! I hope to have one just like it soon, with late model TB+ pups covered in 70s chrome.  ;D

Gotta figure out the pickguard thing. Has anyone tried an original Gibson 'guard on a Bach yet?

Thanks for all your help Basvarken! I got the e-mail too. I asked about price, shipping cost, and color availability.

With a name like TH-1, how can I NOT buy one???  :P

Yeah, the price on that SPC is going to get nutty. Too bad about the black hardware.  :-\

The Bass Zone / Re: GW basses - anybody hear of them?

Wow. Ugly as homemade sin. And some buckeye burl tops to boot.  :puke:

Perfectly stated Dave! I always thought those burl wood tops looked like someone puked on top of the bass.

The Bass Zone / GW basses - anybody hear of them?
« on: March 26, 2009, 01:41:59 PM »
I've got someone trying to work a trade for one of my cars. A GW custom 5 string plus cash. I've never heard of them. Personally not my cup of tea, and I have no need for a 5 string, so I would sell the bass ASAP.

Gibson Basses / Re: New 2009 Grabber II and, yes, even the Ripper!
« on: March 26, 2009, 07:22:09 AM »
I said it before, I'll say it again, those oversized Tuners spoil the looks here, is it really that hard to get the mini clovers that they put on the original?

I gotta agree with Blazer. Same deal as the SG basses. Those tuners just look odd. I also don't like the way the strings don't follow as straight a path from the nut to the tuners on the Grabber. I know, picky picky, but the customer is always right! But, having said that, I'm not really a customer since I won't be buying any of these basses.  :P

The body shapes are generic, they don't have any acquired distinctiveness, and Fender failed to police.

This is exactly why John Hall at Rickenbacker is such a fanatic about going after anyone making or selling Ric copies.

Gibson Basses / Re: Ralphe Armstrong interview

Also I wanted to say that when Ralphe left Jean Luc Ponty, the young aspiring bass player who replaced him was American Idol Judge Randy Jackson- one hell of a bass player (saw him with Billy Cobhan)

I still think of Randy Jackson as "the guy that replaced Ralphe Armstrong".  ;D

Great work on Mystical Adventures.
