Average retail gross margin is usually 55-60%.    So the retailer is paying less than $100 for that bass from fender....

That is why America/western Europe  can never compete  on the low end of any market in any product line.   Parts,  labor is fractions of what they cost.

And why I am still out of work since Dec.....

I'm 56 and hoping/praying  to get a job really soon.   Something sounds very wrong doesn't it.    2 in college and a 14 yearold that needs private schooling.  I guess getting married at 30  has come back to bite me on the tush.....  Thought i would retire at 60 but GE  and cancer kind of changed that plan.    It may take me over 2 years just to clear up  some of the  bills sitting on my desk  and get back to where i was last fall.  But the alternative was a lot worse so no complaining for now......I do need to get out of Fairfield County as soon as my son finishes high school.  There are a lot of cheaper areas to live once Blue ribbon schools stop mattering.....

Yes AMB-2, #006. How are you liking yours Jim?

mine is back with Bruce.  Several issues resulting in some design changes especially with the pickup and how it is installed.  When i had it i loved it.  sounded great.   close to the SSB you sold me but even better.

I have a  early lull in my Bachbird and 3 sets of thunderbuckers.  The lull sounds  just  like the 63 thunderbuckers  which i prefer but  i may be the only one....  clean full sound.
Maybe he has changed who builds them for him.   Mark will chime in shortly I am sure.

Bass Amps & Effects / Re: Amp merry-go-round (B-12)

Got the B-12 in today and hooked it up right away.  Ummmmm....DOA.  No sound at all out of the amp.  The tubes are old, mismatched and a couple were barely glowing.  The seller sent it with the tubes out and wrapped up, so they actually had a pretty cushy ride.  I tried it with different cords and speakers and nothing.  So, the seller and I chatted and I'm going to have my local tech check it out.  We'll see what needs to be done and then discuss who will pay and how much.  He seems pretty reasonable and with over 1,000 sales, things should work out.  I'll have tubes and other stuff done anyway as long as the amp is sound and can be up and running without a major hassle/cost.  If not, back she goes!  Naturally, I do want to keep it, so we're pulling for a simple rehab plan.

BTW, it is a quite a little troll.  Significantly smaller than a B-15, a perfect practice size.  I honestly had never seen one before.  Now it's got me wanting a B-15 too.  Oy!  I don't have the room for it though.

Or maybe it's big brother - a B15S from 72  - 60 watts,  7027A tubes ,  actually powerful enough for small gigs  but weighs a ton.....
