I have a couple of cheap soap bars that I will route through body to accept. The pickups being angled makes things tricky!

I'm starting to think my love/hate relationship with Jazz basses stems from the pickups. There just isn't enough area of string sensed by the coils for my tastes. Great for brittle trebly stuff but a little lacking in thump.
I like your thinking!

54 years and still performing is pretty incredible.

I used a felt bass pick when I started decades ago. It was like the uke picks but twice as thick.  That was an old school thing even back then. With flats it took away the clunk click that a guitar pick gave you, but what a freaking mess. Felt fuzzy dust everywhere. It was fun that it looked like a rug pad - gray and colored specks in it.  Blah.

I like my Mastersounds lps with Monk on them.
The fuzz looked really good on a dark shirt with a black light too.  (the height of stagecraft in 1965)

He was apparently a good guy.  A drummer that I used to play with as a teenager would jam with a lot of the old jazz guys from time to time.
Probably the only good thing in Indianapolis at the time.

Jimmy wasn't concerned about such trivial things.  :)
No he was a little Chuck Berry=ish.
I'll play you pay.

I've trained it to attack any guitarists that get too close.
