Nice baritone.

Nancy used to be parlor guitar size. Now she's a dreadnought model.

As this gentleman recently discovered

That was certainly a heartwarming rescue story, one that the firefighters can tell their grandkids about.

Let me solve this one for you. ;) Caps in series with a signal act as a low pass filter whose corner frequency is determined by the capacitance. The higher the capacitance value, the higher the frequency of the filter. (I have the equation for capacitance/ frequency somewhere.) The difference between mica and electrolytic caps (like the Orange Drops) is negligible with the low voltage output of a pickup. Even the hottest passive pickups put out less than 10 volts at absolute maximum on transients. Those caps are rated at 400 volts.

That's what I thought. That's why I'm doubtful when people claim they can hear differences, and suspicious when they write up detailed descriptions of the differences. I just don't see how it could affect a guitar tone circuit as long as you're comparing two caps of the same value.

Dave, didn't you ever watch "Gilligan's Island" ? you can run a record player off a bamboo bicycle.

I was too busy fantasizing about Lovey Howell.

I don't have an iPod, and if I did it would hold less than advertised because I can't listen to much at 128kbps. OTOH I've read that blind listening tests have shown that most people can't distinguish a .wav from a well done VBR mp3 at 0, 1 and 2 settings. And most can't tell the difference between a .wav and a 320kpbs CBR.

None of this will ever satisfy purists, and that's okay. Personally, I like the convenience of listening to my playlists on the computer through a good set of headphones. YMMV.

Always nice to play a small sold out venue.

You look calmer than usual. Must be the shirt.

I never understood how Misirlou got to be regarded as surf music. Sure, Dick Dale did it, but it's an old Mediterranean folk song that has little similarity to anything else that was called surf music back in the day. And it was never a hit song.

i also like to collect books.the problem with digital stuff is that its not real. turn off the power and you've got nothing.you keep your ipods and Kindles i'll keep my smelly old books and records.

You have a valid point about books, but your vinyl records won't play with the power turned off either. Sure, a record is a physical object and an mp3 isn't, but the physical object is nothing without an electromagnetic cartridge to convert the info in the grooves into voltage.

I can easily forgive his English, I can't forgive his pricing. Or have these doubled in price recently?

Here it is people, enjoy!

Thanks but not what I expected. This looks like his subjective opinions of sound differences. That doesn't demonstrate that there actually are differences.

I'd like to see a double blind ABX test to see what differences a group of listeners can tell, if any.

Nicely done and most important, it worked.

Since it already had 3/16" rods, seems like the problem must have been not being able to apply enough force to move the rods enough. That's why I suggested not threading down to the Rick specs.

The problem with this type rod apparently is not the strength of the rod, but the way force is applied. Acoustic guitarmaker William Cumpiano used it in his guitarmaking book years ago but there were similar problems so he revised it to make the rod move the way it was intended to. Unfortunately you don't have room in a Rick to use his solution.

Minnesotans walk around without jackets or with their jackets wide open in this kind of weather.

One of my son's friends wears shorts in any weather, even 25 below. I'm not sure whether to blame it on his being a drummer or being from Coon Rapids or both.

But it's not just Minnesotans. One of my neighbors, who moved here last year from Phoenix of all places, wears shorts with a sleeveless shirt outside regardless of the weather. He was out this morning in 35 degree weather working on his car.

Best of luck with that. Having a good product is only half the battle, hopefully your marketing approach will pay off.

The only reason I buy old vinyl is when it's the only way I can find an obscure song. But I then convert to mp3 and sometimes CD too. Not sentimental about it at all.

I think several here have bought these from this seller. This is the guy with a warehouse full of old Gibson Kalamazoo parts.
