I thought Nate took it in on trade & sold it again. As I recall, it wasn't in the store long, I thought it sold quicker since it was priced lower. Maybe it didn't sell & the lady ended up with my origional bass. I bought the first one from Nate when he was in his first store, on the corner of the building he is still in.

Thats what I thought, but now the two transformers are a bit puzzling. I'll have to try to trace the wires better. Maybe it's a stereo setup, with a transformer for each pickup & a DPDT Impedance switch. Can't really see the switch.............. ??? ???

On second glance, it has a transformer & the "HI" "LOW" Impedance switch, making the extra output jack more of a mystery. Somebody, either on this sight or Jules sight, posted an excellent sumary of what all four sets of leads do. The pickups can run on two leads each. They've eliminated the "Phase" switch. Don't know if one of the "Tones" is suppose to be a "Bass" control, as Witch Hat knobs never came in anything other than Volumn & Tone.

That was me.............. It was on consignment, I offered her $300 plus mine, ended up getting it for $325. I don't think Nate has ever had another in his store since those two. It was & still is the cleanest one I've come across, but it seemed a lot heavier than my first one. It's in my little picture, EB-0,1,2,3 & 4.  :rimshot:
Also, the case was much nicer, a yellow lined one like the guitar on eBay. My first one had a grey case that I always thought was an aftermarket case. It had an uncovered chunk of foam holding the body of the bass in place. The case was very un-Gibson like. Now with eBay, I've seen several with the same grey case & it seems to be origional.  :o

I paid about $450 for my first EB-1 reissue at Willie's & years later, upgraded to one exactly like this, with all of the origional parts & hang tags. Mine is super clean & cost me way less than this. The older guys thought I was nuts, paying so much for my guitars at the time I was heavy into collecting. I must be one of them older guys now!  :o  :o

It seems to have a separate jack for each "Hi" & "Low" Impedance, instead of the switch. This is the same sort of setup that was on the last version of the Les Paul Recording guitar. To me, this looks modified. I'm pretty sure the jack plates on the guitar were two separate standard chrome jackplates vs one double jackplate on this silverburst. The serial number apears to be stamped unusually deep. Restamped after a refin or neck repair?  ???  ???  ???

Do I hear $2,000.00?   http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330378984152

Any bets on how high this bass will go?

Also, for the items missing on this EB-1 reissue, it's price is climbing.

Has anybody actually tried to play an EB-1 origional or reissue with the telescoping pole for any period of time? Seem pretty awkward to me............... :-\

The Triumph on eBay is a beauty......... It's the only one I have ever seen using the current serial number standard. Only 27 were shipped in 1979, no record of 1980.

Talking about the weight of the Les Paul basses vs the RD Artist Bass, I thought I would drag it out & weight it also. It came in at a mere 11.5 LBS! I thought for sure it was my heaviest bass. It came in a full pound less than the '70 Les Paul Bass. I would guess that maple is much more consistant in weight than mahogany, which can vary greatly. So most RDs should weight the same.......... :o :o

The heaviest Les Paul Bass I ever lifted was at Lavonnes, maybe 15 years ago. The Gibson decal was scraped off leaving a rectangular MOP inlay. My 12.5 pounder seemed light in comparison.   ??? ???

I never checked the weight of my Les Paul Basses before so I figured it was about time I did.

1970 Les Paul Bass     = 12.5 LBS
1972 Les Paul Triumph = 10.0 LBS
1973 Les Paul Triumph = 11.0 LBS

The '72 is my player, it had a BADASS bridge installed before I bought it & yet it is the lightest.
It was done with a digital bathroom scale that only measures in half pounds.

If you think yours is heavy, you should try the origional '69 - '70 Les Paul Bass. It makes the Triumph feel like an EB-0................. :)

Looks Great! I never check GC any more to find anything vintage. They usually price things so high it makes their new stuff seem like a bargin. If you do score a new control plate, I still have a few .015 thick spring steel "stiffeners" left. They go under the control plate & help prevent the new plate from cracking.  8) 8) 8)
