If it's lightweight, which I'm pretty sure it is, I'd like it.  With a few exceptions, I tend to stick with lightweight basses because of a neck/shoulder problem.  Usually it works out.  Sometimes I just have to guess.  Like with the Danelectro Hodad I bought a few years ago.  It's all right, but there is something about its neck which I've never been able to quite get used to.

Comntemporary's are still available. The newest one have a burst very close to the German ones. I see them here a lot. I know it is sometimes hard to find 'm cos they get produced in batches, they sell out, it takes a while, new ones get produced and so on.

While Rotosound nylons are a bit glossy and sticky, the Pyramids are rougher feeling and have a matte colour. I like that more.
Höfner strings are made by Pyramid too. Almost neighbours.

The only reason I even bought those Contemporary basses is because I read your reviews of them here.  But there haven't been many here for a long time.  It would be nice to have one closer to the German ones.  I didn't know they had made a change.  Oh the other hand, it's very doubtful I would ever find such a deal as I found on the Cavern one.  The other one was at the regular price, though.  But that's okay.  It was a good time for me to be buying some basses.

I'm just wondering what happened to the Contemporary basses.  It doesn't matter to me personally since I bought two a few years ago--one of them a Cavern model.  Still, I didn't expect the Contemporary basses to start vanishing so soon like that.  You can still find one here and there, but places like Sweetwater and MF no longer offer them at all.  Usually, when something like this happens, it's when I try to buy something and then find out it has been suddenly discontinued.  This time I was able to draw first.

It's good to see a video which is right on target about the EB-0.  That's not something you find very often.

In the spirit of posting offbeat Christmas videos, here is another one.  It stays weird right to the very end.

I didn't know whether to post this here or in the Gibson bass section.  But Rick Danko is already well represented there.  Plus, it's almost Christmas.

I'm not a country music listener and hadn't heard of her, but I listened to that and thought "her voice DRIPS country music." Even though it isn't a country song or done country style, that inflection rings out in every word.

So I looked her up, and sho'nuff, country music from her early years.

Yes, that's true.  I felt the same way.  I looked her up yesterday, though.  She is from Texas.  She was better known there and in New Orleans where she moved to for a while.  I think later she moved to Nashville.  Someone wrote on one of the comments beneath one of her songs that he was in New Orleans once at an open mic night.  She came up and asked to sing that song.  The guy asked her what key and she said the key of the record.  He asked if she was sure because that was a rather high key.  She said I'm the one who sang it for Vince.  Of course it came out just right.  At some point, Lisa Layne was involved in doing Patsy Cline songs, but I don't know the details of that at all and haven't heard any of those songs she did.

I heard this at the chiropractor's office today and had to look it up.  He told me I needed a vacation, by the way.  This is Lisa Layne on vocals.  What a voice she has.

The Outpost Cafe / Re: So, what have you been listening to lately?

Since Golden Earring has been one of my favorite bands for years, it's probably not surprising I would be interested in something that was originally Dutch.  Both the Bolland brothers and Status Quo versions of the song are very good.  The Status Quo version was a You Tube recommendation.  I ended up going through various live and video versions and liked them all.  I'm now definitely in a mood to listen to all that other Status Quo stuff I don't know much about.  Thanks.
