According to this article, "Music From Another Dimension!" was released by Columbia when it was going through leadership changes, but was not, of course, a commercial success.

It appears that this was a hoax and was never a real ad.

I would be happy to pay an extra $100 for a case option, instead of gig bag

Oh, definitely.  It would be well worth it.

Why don't they offer a case?

Every time I use a gig bag, some part of the guitar gets destroyed...usually a pot gets sheared off.

The available bag is pretty sad, and not up to gigging. Otherwise it looks like a bass I could love.

The same question could be asked for a lot of basses now.  The days are long gone, for the most part, when you would get a case included even for a cheap bass.  Unless it's a bass that I really don't much care about at all, I've got to find a way to get a case (usually not a gig bag) one way or another.

Danke bitte for your thoughts.

After two hours of the Herr Doktor whittling on my jaw, I emerged yesterday with a couple of new bone grafts (donated by an unnamed cadaver, but I guess now we're close personal friends...) and functioning with doses of 800 MG Ibuprofen.  I also got a scrip for Oxydodone, but I hate that stuff.  The semi-detached feeling it creates is something I really dislike, and I don't expect to use it. Therefore, I'm minimally stuporific, if very low-key.

Things are better than I feared. I just feel like I have a congestion headache and a sore throat, both caused by swelling from the work on my lower jaw. I am exploring the relative virtues of yogurt, pudding, and small refried bean & cheese burritos made with nice soft tortillas. Icewater and other cold drinks are also on the menu, and I have clearance for the occasional beer as needed. Recuperation proceeds apace.

I've had way more done to my teeth than most people.  But I've not come close having anything like that done.  I had thought about commenting earlier.  But I'm glad now I didn't.  I might have come across as kind of clueless.  That sounds like an ordeal, though.

No love here for Done With The Mirrors?

I got it at a discount at a drugstore.  So it was actually worth it.  But when I told my friend who is such a big Aerosmith fan, she let it be known that the album was one of their worst.  However, I think there are some fans out there who like it.

The deluxe version definitely had some of the best songs.  By the time I had finished listening to it, I was glad I got that version.  I think that version was more for the hardcore fans.  I was buying the CD for a friend who fell into that category and, of course, decided to buy one for myself, too.

Aerosmith's last album was the 2012 "Music From Another Dimension!" It got mixed reviews. I think some of the band members liked it and others said they didn't know if they ever wanted to do another album again.  I don't remember who said what now, but I'm pretty sure Tom Hamilton was enthusiastic about the album.

He may go into acting next like Sting did for a while.

Not every lead guitarist has to be a blues lead guitarist, why are they so obsessive about it? Electric lead guitar playing has come a long way since 78 rpm shellac records! It's like as if every bass player wished to play like James Jamerson. It's fine if you want to and even better if you can, but you don't have to.

I would have put Gilbert more in the EvH, Adrian Belew, Allan Holdsworth, Rick Nielsen category - and there is nothing in the least wrong with that.

You've got to be careful about saying this because some would consider it something really bad to say.  But I was just talking about this to a friend a few days ago.  He thinks playing like Jamerson would be about the ultimate thing to do.  Jamerson was great.  But I've been around people who seemed to only want to listen to him.  I got tired of that. Even though Hendrix is my favorite guitarist, I've also been around people who seem to think he was the only guitarist who ever lived.  That's being a little too obsessive for me.

In general, frenetic stuff like that, shredded to hell and back, is just outright boring to me.  It certainly lacks soulful finesse.  Gilbert is just not all that interesting compared to many other guitarists who actually are.  Supposedly, he wants to be known more as a blues player now.  I don't want to be harsh, but I'm not feeling it.

Most of the time, people aren't going to capture the spirit of the original song.  But it's okay to try.  In this case, they're doing exactly what Chas Chandler urged Hendrix not to do.  And that's to make the song too long.

I would't give up, though.  Certainly, stranger things have happened.
