Now that is cool!

His son John played around town for several years in the 90s as John Casey.

I took the In-Laws to Roger's Funeral up north & met John. He recalled my Father-In-Law trying to keep him quiet durring the show. If I recall corectly, they had a second showing at St Thomas for the general public.

This is from a beloved Twin Cities kid show. I believe this is a Yogi Yorgesson (Harry Stewart) recording.

My late Father-In-Law was a long time employee of WTCN / KARE 11 and worked with Roger Awsumb through the entire run of the show I believe.  He ran the hand crank for the birthday list at the end of every show. When the show ended, Casey gave my wife his railroad jacket, (long before we were married). Here is an signed picture to my wife just before his passing, he recalled giving her something, but thought it was his overalls...

We had less than 20 inches of snow, but it was enough to collapse the Metrodome..........

The Halloween storm of 1991 was about 28 inches, but being almost 20 years younger, it didn't seem so bad. It was also warmer than it is now.........  8)
The snow plow just came by for the third time so back to shoveling.  >:(

I haven't had time to watch the news to see how much snow we've gotten today, but this is the biggest workout my snow blower has had since I bought it about five years ago. Time to call it a day & have a beer, (Dragon's Milk), mmm tasty!

The Bass Zone / Re: Insurance for basses?
« on: November 28, 2010, 07:34:03 PM »
I have a rider on my homeowners policy, each guitar is listed at a specific dollar amount by discription & serial number. I pay X $ amount per thousand insured. I haven't looked for a number of years, but I think personal property was insured at 10% of your total property value. Like Dave pointed out, they would probably replace a vintage bass or guitar with a current model, leaving you at a sustantial loss in most cases. Even with a set dollar amount, replacements never seem to pop up when you need one, you may have to wait for years. At least you would be able to buy something of equal value. Depressing thinking about it!

Gibson Basses / "61 EBO Pickup #25 Reused?
« on: November 26, 2010, 03:57:41 PM »
This Pickup posted on eBay has etching on the back, "#25 Reused". The seller seems to find it puzzling & so do I. Any ideas what this could mean?

Menards ads had "words of wisdom" or sayings written in fine print at the bottom of each page also. I'll have to check the Sunday paper & see if they still do this.....  :P

Maybe the Broadcaster will find its way into Nate's collection. His Esquires might need company.

I should stop in and see him, but Menard's and Home Depot get my spare dollars these days.

I'm sure he can help you "Save Big Money"!   :P

Pete Alenov. Pete's Guitar. He had an all-star clientele: Harrison, Clapton, Dylan etc. Died in a car accident.

His brother ran the Russian Tea House next door. It's still in business.

I bought my Les Paul Signature Guitar from Pete, just a few months before the car accident. He hit a tree just off of HWY 100 & Minnetonka BLVD. He was on his way back from a Jonny Lang concert, if I recall correctly. There was talk of George Harrison buying his shop, at least that was the buzz from the other local guitar shops.

I was at Willie's a week ago last Saturday, after the Anoka Swap Meet. First time in quite a while. Checked out the Epiphone, noticed that the '53 EB had sold... Nate had a very early Fender Broadcaster, he forced us to try it! It made me a bit nervous, even though it was worth a lot less than an original Les Paul. I see he hasn't listed it on his web page...

Gibson Basses / Re: Tried to buy a 2nd 20/20!!

It took me about a year, to muster up the courage to buy the first one, but for $250.00, it was a no brainer. The back of the neck on mine is a little funky, if I could have landed this one, I might have swapped the necks.  :o

Gibson Basses / Tried to buy a 2nd 20/20!!
« on: November 09, 2010, 05:27:15 PM »
Surfing around the country on Craigslist, I came across a Gibson 20/20 in St Louis for $250.00. I tried contacting the owner & he never responded until after it sold.... He described it as "The perfect size for a petite female or a child, but if you're a big guy it'll probably look too small". It just wasn't meant to be! Maybe two 20/20's under one roof would have a negative effect on the world as we know it!?!  :o :o :o
