Sweetwater has the 20th anniversary available for pre-order at $799, same as the black and gold ones. MF has the Blue Royale at $829, but with the 15% discount they are running now it's actually $705. Unfortunately MF doesn't have the 20th anniversary available for pre-order.

Gibson Basses / Re: More Gibson news

From a Dutch shop website:

Latest news: Edwin Wilson - The go-to person, THE man behind the Gibson Collectors Choice program and True Historic, walking encyclopedia at Nashvilles Custom Shop has been sacked by Gibson. These two programs have now been shut down. We thank Edwin for assisting us and helping us to get the Dutchburst among the famed Collectors choice models as model #18. We have hear he already has found employment elsewehere and want to tell him KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Would I be safe in assuming neither of these programs involved anything bass?

thought this was going to be an R.I.P. thread, glad it's not. Luther's music will be around a long time, he taught his son well.

This is a tune we love to play.

Playing this video on made my Google home give me a list of local computer stores. It's sitting on my desk and can apparently hear what I play on my speakers.

edit: It only did it the first time I played the video. Maybe it learned something.

And to the mojo hobo - I have always wanted to try one of those Gibson IV's. They still appeal to me. Very curious as to how they sound.

Like a Thunderbird http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=1773.0 I'd probably still have it if it had a 4 in line headstock.

Welcome Bassilisk! I was invited to the dudepit when Steve Barr bought a tuck and roll Kustom head from me on ebay.

I was invited here when the dudepit folded, which was right in the middle of the Bachbird project which Rob did an outstanding job of bringing together.

And speaking of old times I found for sale a bass I sold on ebay a long, long time ago.

And no, it is not coming back to me.

Good to hear that you're on the mend with an excellent prognosis!  Cancer scares the crap out of me.  Maybe buy a sports car to go with the new tattoo?  I'm sure you're wife might not approve of the stripper to go with the sports car though  ;)

Maybe get the sports car and not the tattoo:

Recover well Aussie Mark and all you others don't avoid going to the doctor. Nine years ago my voice turned hoarse; when I finally got it diagnosed it was cancer of the larynx. After 7 weeks of radiation therapy I was left with a paralyzed vocal cord. At least I never was a good singer.

I haven't done much woodworking in years. The Satellite City Special T in the thick version is what I would use if there were a small gap, if it came to that. Titebond also makes CA now (Instant Bond), Woodcraft carries it, haven't used it though.

As long as you were able to put enough clamping pressure on the joint, the regular Titebond ought to hold.

That Special T stuff works great. I used it on my 68 NR that had broke at the truss rod nut leaving very little area for gluing and my previous repair with Titebond lasted a couple of weeks. It failed while sitting on a stand as I watched. It just gave up. After reading this post I ordered Special T and now six months later it is still holding. Only problem is that I didn't realize it is slow setting and the headstock moved after I glued it so it doesn't lean back as far as it should and fits tight in the case. So now I ordered debonder and am going to try to undo and redo the repair.

Thank you Dave for the recommendation.

Q:     Hi, Is this a genuine Chinese PPG guitar or is it the cheap Mexican import? Thanks Neil    Mar-20-17

A:     Hi Neil, I understand your concern regarding the provenance of this bespoke masterpiece but I can assure you with absolute certainty that this instrument was produced in the centre of Satan's own anus. I hope that puts your mind at ease. All the best, and many thanks for your interest.

Q:  Hi is this from before '96, I have heard that the guitars from the satans anus factory took a turn for the worse after this date as they started using poorer quality components after an explosion and consequent fire damage.  Mar-22-17

A:   Hi there, I'm afraid this one was likely produced after 'the problem' at the production facility. I expect this instrument shall remain toxic for some millions of years to come. All the best.

You would think in this day and age that some one posting a video to you tube would know to shoot it in landscape mode.

And Uwe, that video would be much better viewed at a higher resolution than 360p.

Thanks Dave, but I am seriously considering filling the grain and giving it a proper glossy finish in a slightly darker shade. (Not until the weather warms up though.)

So, me thinking I have too many basses and should sell a couple, I go looking at the classifieds on a large bass forum and see this 2014 EB 5 string for sale for a rather attractive price, I offered a little less and here it is:

Well, it's not just black, to start with.

How much do people pay for custom paint colors on a car?

You are correct. I modified my comment.
