Gibson Basses / Re: Need pix of the brothers!

Totally built from scratch. The neck is about the same measurements as a P bass (Former Warmoth 8 string paddle head bolt on neck converted to  set neck like Gibson). Body is Honduras Mahogany, tuners and bridge are...Hamer, Pickups are Orville Thunderbirds.  think the neck is a bit heavy, though. I would LOVE to try a Rickenbacker 8 string and one of these days, I'm going to call Tom (Gearhed) and hook up with him.

I designed and built that 8 string non reverse thunderbird bass myself-minus attaching the set neck-and didn't have access to a spray booth at the time so I paid someone to do it. The color is Tahiti Coral which I saw one day on a 50's Chevy or Buick with white trim!!! Gibson wouldn't build one for me, even though i had a record deal!!! So....that's what i did!!!

Tom!!! I couldn't find that Picture of Daisy Chain!!! Thanks!!! circa 1990!!! I played a Natural 76 and a black '76 thunderbird as well as Fender P basses and Jazz Basses but I was mainly the t bird guy!!! And Mark, as far as the boots...I UNFORTUNATELY...Sold them!!! I paid $65.00 for those in '89. Spotted them in the window of a vintage clothing store in Boys Town, took a train down to my Mom's work to borrow $65.00 to buy them (yes, I truly was a starving artist-that sucked) after I was replaced a month before the Mercury deal for $750,000.00, I had to sell the boots to pay rent!!! Got $125.00 for them. Got some money a few weeks later, tried to buy them back and the owner refused. I offered him 3-4 times as much. He said that they were owned by a  celebrity and that he was keeping them. I said "Are you outta yer mind??? I'm not famous???" Saw them again a few years later on a mannequinn in his window display. still wouldn't sell them to me. His store is gone and so are the boots.... Oh well....

Both of you guys have made some Ass Kicking $h!T!!!! Covers????? Fantastic!!! Scott, your Bridges are astounding!!!! It is a blessing when people can work together to help each other out at restoring or custom building a Gibson Thunderbird bass, the way they SHOULD be made today but unfortunately aren't. NOTHING, I tell you, Nothing beats the tune-o-matic bass bridges and the Chrome/Nickel pickups. And let's not forget Dr. Bassman's tailpieces and Scott's Guards!!!!!  Well, gotta run. Off to work early so I can touch up my 65 Bird!!!!!! :)

I have one bass that was refinned by Lay's Guitars in Akron, Ohio. It's an awesome finish. Anybody else have a good experience with them?? I'm thinking about having them refin my 65 thunderbird IV in Polaris white.

Your welcome. That was just way too low for a 60's bird, even a broken one.
