The Outpost Cafe / Re: Saw King Crimson here Oct 26

Thanks for sharing that. I'm going to try to make one of the shows, but the closest one is the day after Thanksgiving family weekend.

I did see them at the Chicago Amphitheater from the first row of the first balcony about the time of Larks Tongue in Aspic (mid-seventies) and it was fantastic.

Yeah, I forgot they let you buy them before they get them.

Have the specs for the 2018 Thunderbird been posted? Curious if it'll have the mini switches and exposed pole pickups like the 2015 model on the Gibson site?

Looks like CME bought more Gibson excess inventory.

Congrats on the bass, John. Can't beat that deal.

That deal can be beat by at least 10%.

I think he would have more luck if he sweetens the deal by $100. P basses are a bit more in demand than EBs.

I  also own a 4 and 5 string 2014 EB bass. The red one I bought new, the gold 5 string I found on TB and my offer was accepted. If I didn't have these I would have bought one of the newer ones, I like it's features a lot.

They got at least two. I paid for mine yesterday.

Not that I needed another bass having recently received the Jack Casady 20th Anniversary bass. I need to start selling some I'm running out of space.

It was me. I made an offer, they emailed a counter which I accepted.

Actually, it wasn't me. They called me back and said someone on reverb.com paid before me, but he said they had more coming.

Hm, I'd never heard this before:
"When the British Invasion hit big in February 1964, Fender instruments were not a prominent part of its armaments. The post-war U.K. import ban on U.S. musical instruments had only recently been lifted, and Fender guitars, basses and amps were only then starting to reach England in significant numbers."

They're making excuses. Most British Invasion bands played American made guitars, Paul's Hofner a notable exception. Gibson, Gretsch, Epiphone and Rickenbacker were all popular British Invasion instrument brands. Gibson and Rickenbacker especially for bassists.

Does Rickenbacker normally get paint on the truss rod nuts or could this possibly be a re-fin?

I did pre-order one from Sweetwater about a month ago. They called me last week saying it was expected this week, but called again this morning and said August now.

If you look at the other years 2014 also says there are no available 2014 basses although we know they made them. In 2015 they are showing the Thunderbird and SG Bass, and 2017 shows EB 4 and 5 strings. I'm guessing this means there are still Thunderbirds, SG Bass, and EB basses in Gibson's warehouse.

Someone on facebook posted this, apparently from 1969.

I still have this record.
