This is Kelly Slater's band & the album is outa print but you can get it on ebay or amazon:

www.amazon.com/Songs-Pipe-Surfers/dp/B000009CZC

There are half minute clips of each track there. Sounds pretty goood

Gibson made him a custom LP with SL8R on it.

He's 8 times World Champion!!!!!!!! The Best Surfer in the World!

I'm reading his AWESOME autobiography which has some GREAT photos.

He's friends with Eddy Vedder & has had an off & on relationship with Pamela Anderson.
Hope he didn't get Hep C from her.  :P

The Bass Zone / Mr. Big on the Radio! All Right NOW!
« on: March 19, 2010, 02:19:10 PM »
Heard FREE~Mr.Big on the RADIO finally for The First Time since it was released 40 years ago!!!!
As you all know, the only FREE song they ever seem to play on most stations is All Right Now which is as worn out as Stairway To Heaven now.
Mr. Big is the best example of Bass as Lead & Andy Fraser makes his SG EB3 SING so beautifully!
This is probly The Best Bass Playing Ever!
Sure made my night when I heard it on 100.3 fm 2 nights ago!!

My high school buds all went to see FREE 40 years ago & told me I missed a great show.
They said Andy took 3 steps forward & 3 back throughout the show!!!
Don't remember WHY I missed it but I've been kickin' myself ever since. Blimey & Crikey!! Dammit

The mag costs 5 bucks but you can read the 5 page article for free!!!!!
I'm sending it around the world to all my friends & family....
Getting rid of my cellphone & cordless phone as the article suggests.

Pass it on....
The life you save may be someone you love!

The Bass Zone / Best New Band
« on: January 29, 2010, 03:48:03 PM »
They're a bunch of old guys but they may win a Grammy for Best New Group! haha
They're a Supergroup who some folks say ain't all that.
I just got their album cuz a lot of people have been saying it's the best album of 2009, which I agree with.
Of course, the only other album I bought was Winger's KARMA.
Dig this Chickenfoot vid! Not sure if it's official or just made by fans, but it's cool as hell.
It's the vid with the Peace Sign in a square. (Chickenfoot, get it?)

www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Chickenfoot&search_type=&aq=f

Put this in the Bass section cuz it's Michael F. Anthony on bass!
Born To Be Bad heh
His backup vocals are legendary & sounds better than ever on this album!

Sammy Hagar on lead vocals, Joe Satriani handles all the guitar chores & really changed his style to fit into this band context by crunching it up with lots of Power Chords & very little of the wheedling he is known for...Brilliant wheedling tho it may be, I'm LOVIN' this HEAVY DUTY JOE!
Chad Smith from the Chili Peppers completes the band. He's a Rock solid drummer & must be havin' a BLAST with these guys!
They all seem to be havin' as much FUN as a young gang of schoolboys!!!!
Dig their other vids too--here's one:

Get it if you ain't got it!

The Outpost Cafe / 2010 Movies
« on: January 20, 2010, 05:39:07 PM »
Got tix to see Alice In Wonderland at the Disney showcase theater-El Capitan- which opened in 1925 & was beautifully renovated in the '90s.
Gonna take a girlfriend to the March 5th Thurs. Midnight show & then take my daughter Tanya to the Sat. Midnight show opening weekend!!
She'll be visiting the Southland from Sacramento that weekend & hopefully we'll see some real stars on Hollywood Blvd. cuz the Academy Awards are that night too!!

Saw Crazy Heart yesterday which is considered a 2009 movie & it's pretty good.
I'm not wild about Country music but the songs in this flick aren't much different than Blues songs, really, they just have pedal steel & are sung with a twang. lol
Cool that Jeff Bridges got the Golden Globe award for Best Actor for his role in this as Bad Blake but I'm guessing Clooney will win the Oscar. We'll see!

How To Train Your Dragon looks like a fun animated flick which is also opening in March.
Clash of the Titans is another CGI fest opening in March....

Looking forward to Mel Gibson in Edge of Darkness next week....

Saw a billboard already for a new TRON in 3D that's opening in Dec.!
Gonna be a good year for movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
