Title: Hipshot ultralite help needed
Post by: Iome on September 23, 2015, 02:03:22 AM
I've bought some used Hipshot ultralite keys to cure some neck dive on my bass, but i need to reverse them.
I'd like to know if any of you could confirm that the needed allen key measure is 1/16" which is hard to find around here.
I've tried with a friend who works with HD, but when we found the supposedly right key it was too hard to turn and i'm afraid of rounding out the screw. i was told there's possibly locktite under the screw so i should heat it up....but i'd then risk to melt the plastic washer in the Key.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I think it depends on whether you are using import Ultralites or the real thing. I had the imports, and you cannot reverse them. I have a dead one in pieces to prove it. The design of the case only allows the peg assembly to sit in a certain way. However I had no problem turning the hex nut, and found no evidence of glue residue in there.

I sold the other tunes so I'm afraid I cannot be of more help.

I'm using the right ones. I knew the Lic. where not reversible. I think i probably just have to find the right allen key..

edit.: i fixed it using a torx size TT7.
