Title: Finally, a Warwick player makes The Telegraph
Post by: Dave W on May 04, 2015, 11:22:44 AM
'Idiotic' driver pictured playing 5-string Warwick while driving (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/11581596/Idiotic-driver-pictured-playing-guitar-at-wheel-on-A27-near-Chichester.html)

I learnt a long time ago never to drink and drive... you just end up spilling too much...

... and since when can a UK journalist tell the brand of a bass from that view...

This is why I stick to 4 string basses, I don't think I'm good enough to manage a 5 string bass while driving.

I used to see a guy playing trumpet while driving. If you've been on 290 heading into Chicago during evening rush hour (or any time for that matter) you know it's more like sitting in a parking lot.

He's so close to their HQ, and they had to bribe him with a unique "custom" model, and he writes for a bass mag, so... :P

And - in the days of yore - the "doughnut bumper", thus christened by our beloved Admin.

Chris doesn't have a driver's license - we now know why. And The Netherlands don't allow cars wide enough to harbor a Buzzard.

I can't remember using doughnut bumper to describe a Warwick endorser. Which one?

Dudepit. Lesbian Brit (aren't they all?). Fretless Warwick. I forgot her name, but she posted quite regularly before math, meth and murky deals pulled the curtain on our forum of mutual inception.

You can't live in constant denial, Dave, seriously!!! "The term "doughnut bumper" (which she thought exceedingly funny, she had great humor when she caught you with it) has since become ingrained with me and I prefer it to the much coarser "clam muncher".

Now I remember who you're talking about. I don't remember her name and didn't remember her as a Warwick player. She had some kind of serious illness and dropped out after a while.

But I didn't call her that. IIRC the discussion was about Joan Jett or maybe someone else well known, and she joined in the discussion -- with good humor.

I don't remember her name either but if I am thinking of the same girl, she was a big fan of those short Ashbory rubber-band string basses. (Yes, I am aware they are silicone) For some reason I think her name was Lucy, but that was a long time ago.

That's it! Her name was Lucy, her username was Froover, and she did like those Ashborys. She may have lived in Scotland. Maybe the Isle of Skye? And maybe her medical problem was arthritis. I still don't remember her playing Warwicks.

Aussie Mark knows something about this.

re Lucy/Froover, from another forum ....

Quote
In checking the links, I see that the two most revealing posts under Exhibits A and B have been taken down, which diminishes the strength of the evidence considerably. Those posts were "froover" on the piercing forum posting a photo of "her" significant other, and "Viper_Baritone" (a male who occasionally posted photos of himself on that forum--something froover never did) on the Lonely Life forum telling the story of meeting a wonderful girl, who turns out to look exactly like froover's girl. But it is still possible to see "Lucy"'s tattoos on Gavin. (Also, for Exhibit A, it is necessary to search the forum for username froover, since the link is to my original search.)

The trail for our froover grows cold around the end of May 2011. I could find no traces of a Lucy Anderson in Fort William, UK (or Skye), so I began to suspect that that might not be her real name. Then I made a surprising discovery.

Exhibit A:

List of posts by froover on a body piercing forum. Note in particular the post in the thread "Post a Picture of Your Other Half." (The image filename is bestelizabeth.jpg.)

Uwe will be so disappointed to find out that Lucy was fictional.

Thanks, Mark.

Guys: I don't see what the cause for celebration is if Dave calls a bearded guy with tattoos a doughnut bumper.

And in any case differences between a guy and a lesbian are miniscule at best, depending on the guy of course.  ;)

Thanks Mark, what a glorious story! I'll change my handle to Uweline now ... Everybody wants to be a lesbian for 15 minutes in his/her life.

That fretless Warwick was probably a Framus guitar then!!!

Thinking about it: Weren't Froover's arm a bit too hairy - even for a lesbian non-shaver? Not to be splitting hairs, but we could have noticed that a tad bit earlier.

Step out and reveal yourself, bigfoot-woman!!!

Now that the truth about froover is out, next Mark will tell us that Treena didn't really own all those basses.  :P

I don't remember froover's arm. But it doesn't hurt to keep in mind that any internet lesbian might really be a hairy guy with forearm tats -- or vice versa.  ;)

I think I might have slipped between dimensions somewhere along the ol' time-coast... I'm just going to lie down in a darkened room to recoverer...

Er... just a thought... Uweline is not to far removed from Uwa which phonetically is not far removed from Froover so... :o

But if we're going for ambiguity...
