Title: Sand blasted Precision
Post by: godofthunder on February 07, 2015, 08:06:41 AM
Anyone else think these are cool? They have a kind of late 60's early 70's hippy dippy vibe. I have always dug the natural and unique look. I am not ashamed to say mine arrives next week.  ;D http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/fender-limited-edition-sandblasted-precision-bass-electric-guitar

I think it's a cool look.  I like the contrast and the grain lines standing out.

Nice looking bass! I'd love to see it with black blocks and binding on the neck.

Hmm... I see sand-blasting in my future...

Very different, and not in a bad way...

Yep; pretty cool.... and you know that means something coming from a Gibson/shorty only guy like me.

Still a maple board though; that is not my thing.

Reminds me of those SG open grained mixed laminate bodies.  I don't really dig these too much.

She's her! I like it! Two piece Ash body, nice and light. I dig the sandblasting!  One of a kind really cool. More later.

Not for everyone but I really like the sandblasted finish. It feels nice to the touch, a tactile intimacy is almost immediate. I love running my fingers over it, you really get to know your bass. It has a very thin finish, a plus imho the bass really sings! Kinda reminds me of a piece of drift wood...........I mean that in a good way. interesting concept, it is executed well. Typical excellent Fender QC. The neck is very comfortable. A width at the nut, satin finish. The fret work is perfect, it arrived with a very nice set up but with a few tweaks to the bridge I got the action super low, not a buzz any where. I love odd ball stuff and this certainly fits the bill.  ;D

That's a really nice grain pattern.

It's a great song, full stop... My AD body is a single piece of swamp-ash and that is soooo tempting...

Try this version for size...
