Title: practice amp question
Post by: wellREDman on August 26, 2014, 03:16:54 PM
need advice on buying a practice bass amp,

I am looking for a small amp so that I can let one of my students practice in his own room at school.

realistically it is going to be whatever  washes  on ebay  within a 10 mile radius of me for under £30.00,

but if anyone has any horror stories or gem-in-the-rough yarns that would help,  lay em on me ...

I didn't have much luck with Beringer.  Also, older small Fender Rumbles tended to fart out after a few months based on my early experience.  In that price range it will be a crap shoot for sure.

I recall having a little Ibanez 35-watter for a while.  It had to be turned to full bass to get a sound that pleased me.  It weighed as much as my Genz Shuttle, which is why I sold it...but it was an OK practice amp.

Similar to this - picked it up used for about $60 at a Pawn Shop.  A more beat-up version might get to the price cited.

any small amp by peavy will work fine.
