Title: Waterstone Matilda?
Post by: ack1961 on November 07, 2012, 08:44:33 PM
Anyone here have any experiene with Waterstone basses - specifically the "Matilda" model??

From what I can gather from previous LBO threads, this will be 32" scale, set-in neck, semi-hollow.
The Waterstone website doesn't list the Matilda model, and none of the basses in their catalog look too much like this one:

It reminds me of the bass that Bruce Foxton used to play...

Thanks,
Steve

aww, what the hell - I'll go try it out if it's still available.

I called Waterstone in Nashville, but I had to leave a msg.

I've heard positive comments about Waterstones, but heve never played one.  I really like the look of that one.

Maybe I need another visit to a meeting of Hollowbodies Anonymous.

I've got a series one Waterstone TP12.  Had it from new about four and a half years ago.  It's an epic bass.  Weighs a ton.  Wish I could use it more than I actually do.  Build quality is great.  No qualms about recommending them to anyone.

Bob Singer - I think he's the big chief over at Waterstone called me the other day. I had left a question on their website about the Matilda. While we were talking, he asked me for the CL info and he called it up and looked at it online. He gave me a bunch of real good info on that bass.  It's actually a short run version of one of their TP Series basses - it started out to be a signature series, but that never came to fruition.  It's kinda rare, and a real nice bass. He laughed because he doesn't know where the name "Matilda" came from.

He told me that if I'm intrested in that bass, that I should wait a while (6 months or so) for the 2013/2014 TP models to hit.
They are making some vast improvements in the bridge and the pickups.  They also expect to have a more friendly price point.

It was cool of him to call. I really didn't expect it, and he took the time to talk about the bass in question and to chat a bit about basses. If I get out to Nashville, I'm definintely going on a tour and picking up a bass.
