Don't make another record Mr. Dressmaker.

Compared to these guys, Sid Vicious was a musical genius.

Mr Rickenbacker has never made a bass. It was Mr FC Hall.

These guys wouldn't have been able to play it no matter who made it.

Isn't that what punk was supposed to be?

Musicians who can't play or sing, annoying the crap out of everyone?

Judging by the large negative response & dislike, I guess they succeeded. Like my dog, negative attention is better than no attention at all to some.

I never really understood a lot of today's punk bands that look the part but sound like polished pop - non offensive.

No, punk was supposed to be about being able to express yourself musically without having to be a virtuoso. Some of it was offensive, some was bad (just like any other genre) but not meant to be deliberately bad like this.

There are punk bands today? I don't think so. Punk-influenced pop, yes.

Current bands like Frenzal Rhomb are Punk IMO even though the rhythm section is technically amazing. Its the attitude that to me at least is what punk is all about. Yes they can be quite offensive to ppl with sensitive values.

Pigeon holing musical styles is a fraught exercise IMO.

George Beauchamp started Rickenbacker, or actually Electro-String. Adolph Rickenbacher just made parts for him in the beginning, especially for the National resonator guitars. Then they went into business together as Ro-Pat-In Corporation. They changed the name to Rickenbacker because it was a popular name because of World War I flying ace Eddie Rickenbacker. It was also easier to  pronounce than "Beauchamp".  Beauchamp designed the instruments along with Paul Barth.

But the man who designed the 4000 series bass, as well as their other instruments was Roger Rossmeisl.  ;D

IMHO Mister Rossmeisl is one of the biggest unsung heroes. He designed an awful lot Fenders and Ricks.

Unfortunately the Fenders he designed were failures in the market. Yet the Ricks are still wildly popular.

(edit: he did develop the Tele Thinline, which is a long-running success, but that's certainly not his design)

I agree! Vert talented man.

However, the Fender Coronado series was not a favorite of mine. But then I'm not a fan of those types of 335 looking semi hollow instruments. I did own a Gisbon EB-2D once though.
