Title: FS: 1971 Fender Musicmaster Bass, Daphne Blue Refinish
Post by: bostonguitarrepair on March 15, 2008, 09:41:52 PM
Hi all - I just finished assembling a long-dormant project - a little cute Musicmaster Bass, in my favorite Musicmaster color, Daphne Blue.

The bass is very cool - sounds good, as I believe all Musicmaster Basses do - funny how well a Strat pickup works for a bass !!

The bass is mostly original - except for of course the refin - though this bass did start out Daphne Blue at one point - and then suffered through roughly 4 other colors over the years. The pearl guard IS original - this is a very early example of this bass with a June 1971 neckdate and serial # 311340.

Replaced parts include:
- pickguard and neck screws
- pots and output jack
- one knob
- thumbrest

I'm asking $575 but open to offers including partial swaps.  I'd also knock a bit off if you didn't want the original neckplate - as it would look swell on a 71 P-bass I have coming along ...

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooh I have always wanted one of these ! Nice bass. Can't do anything about it now though, I have a Hiwatt DR201 coming at the end of the month. The gun is loaded but I can't shoot.  :(

Krishna-

That looks sweet!

Still loving your old EB-0 - which you did a masterful job of restoring to its former glory, given all that it had been through.

You are too kind Joe - but I am proud of how nice the Daphne blue came out - and I'm partial to Musicmaster Basses anyway.  I'm going to try to borrow my brothers white 72 MM bass so I can do a "red, white and blue" Musicmaster Bass photo shoot before I sell this one off.

I'm still working on that EB-3 - that I resprayed sorta Pelham Blue - kind of got back burnered due to some other "paying" projects - but i'll definitely let you know when that thing is ready - it has a very similar feel to the EB-0 I sold you - similar neck.
