:o ??? :o ??? WT*!?!?! I feel like my ears have just been raped ;D What is it that I have just watched/heard - performance art? what? Am I getting that old and out of touch? ???

Am I getting that old and out of touch? ???
Back in the old days we preferred the gentle vocal stylings of Yoko Ono. This modern stuff is harsh compared to her crooning on "Don't Worry Kyoko". ;D

Cool, avant/noise rock/music has been around since John Cage. Just not something that's radio friendly.

I still like this band a lot. Uwe posted a link to them way back at one of the Pit's and I went and bought some of their stuff. Plus the bass player plays an Gibson RD copy that looks pretty hot IMHO.

That chick is a guy. Although the entire band used to look like little Japanese girls a few years ago!

Dir en Grey or, say, Einstürzende Neubauten or early John Cage'ish Velvet Underground are about as much "performance content" as I can take if I want to listen to music repeatedly. A little industrial/noise is ok. If it's more I can perhaps dig it at a one-off performance, but it's nothing that would revisit my CD player. But then that is why it's called performance art.
I liked Laurie Anderson - are Herr Reed and her still an item? - but then her stuff was pretty sophisticated with light and shade and not so much onslaught throughout.

:-[Well, all I saw was bass player and hot - I know that "RD" registered somewhere in there though ???
I guess I was still hung up on Gito Gito Hustler ;D

I knew this would haqppen :) Truly an oversite on my part - I'm fixated on the neck down shot of the Japanese girl with the white ESP RD.
At least John hasn't seen this yet - threads like this take a turn when the Badgermaster chimes in :D

With music like this, I wish our former allies would go back to surprise attacking naval bases again. ;D

Which guy is a chick?

The singer

Well, my favorite Japanese band isn't Japanese, but the two principals are. And at least you can tell they're chicks.
Cibo Matto is no more, but Miho Hatori (the singer) is still doing solowork.
