Title: BaCH Non Reverse Thunderbird Poll
Post by: Denis on February 20, 2018, 09:48:41 AM
Because I'm curious...

Haven't done a poll on here and I can't preview it so I might have to make changes...

There won't be any more. IIRC Rob said that BaCH was advised by Gibson to stop.

Yep. And not only the NR Tbird. But all Gibson models. Which is a shame, because they were all decent instruments.
I've sold quite a few BaCH SGs, Les Pauls, Flying Vs, Firebirds and Explorers.

I didn't realize Gibson told BaCH to stop the Gibson models. Glad I have the ones I got!

My guess is that after a while the poll will show the twin pickup honey burst might be one of the rarer models, since it came near the end of the production.

I modified the poll to include original cases and the unfinished ones the company offered for a short time. I hope people can still add their counts because I no longer see that option.

I have the original case for mine but the poll only lets you have one vote.  I assume this is also an issue for those with multiple Bachbirds.

Here's some BaCHbird history for y'all

The first prototype was all wrong. With an Ibanez type headstock! And the knobs in the wrong position.

This is the second prototype, with correct shape head stock. But pot knobs and jack output still in the wrong place. Note the BaCH logo on the pickguard

And this is the first of the Series I.

BaCH put quite a bit of thought into the bridge.
The Badbird Bridge that Scott Dasson developed certainly helped them to see the problem of the original Gibson bridge.
I'm glad they didn't copy Scott's bridge, because that would have felt pretty awkward for me.

I wonder if such prototypes are still at Bach premises

Irritating. I set the poll up originally so that people could vote multiple times because I know some of us have more than one of these and some have cases.
Even though I started the poll I can't even edit it other than adding  items or changing when you can see if someone adds something.

I may do another one so we can get an accurate account.

I had a white series II. Installed a late model TB+ with 70s chrome cover and it sounded great. I also put reflector knobs on and had the bridge saddles notched. And I built a custom flight case for it. Oh, and a pickguard from GOT. AND I moved the strap pin to the back. Other than that it was totally stock.  ;D ;D Great bass for the money with a nice slim neck. But, it was just too long and neck-divey, and it really didn't do anything that my LP and F-Bird didn't already cover, so I sold it.

They still make a few LP models, at least 3.

No, not like they used to. The new "Les Pauls" they have have a sharp cutaway, different head stock shape and blob shaped inlays.
Too ugly for my liking...

Nothing like their old models

Ah.  Didn't look too close.

... don't suppose you have any idea where I could get one of their Firebirds?  Apparently I missed those when they came out.

They stopped making them a few years ago.
If you're lucky they may have one or two left in stock. But you'd have to send them an email to inquire.
They were trying to get rid if the old Gibson models about a year ago. They were offering them to me and other dealers for nice prices. But I didn't want to have any stock. So I passed.
