Title: Frankenripper bargain
Post by: Dave W on January 21, 2016, 01:11:28 PM
$395 at Dave's Guitar Shop (http://davesguitar.com/products/gibson/bass-recent-2/)

J-neck, Hipshot tuners and what looks like a Hipshot bridge. Maybe stripped and refinned? But at that price, somebody ought to jump on it.

If it were at this end of the planet, I would.
I wonder if it is actually a Grabber body. Those look like Ripper pickups. Who knows what the wiring is, but there could be goodies in there. Worth the price.

I like the Fenderipper.  Shopping cart won't provide shipping price to Oz, although FAQ says they ship internationally.

Sight unseen, the concept sounds positively awful. Strangely, it isn't. :o

In essence, it only takes what the Ripper always tried to be to its logical conclusion. Doesn't look half-bad.

I like it, we've seen a lot worse done to Gibson's by folks trying to "improve" them!

Wonder whether it makes much of a difference, the bolt-on probably gives some snap to the otherwise sluggish response of Rippers.

Wasn't me either.
I was hoping to pick it up if/when Mark flipped it.  :)

I wonder where it will show up on our fair shores.

That's too bad. Their shipping in the US is reasonable.

Got it! They allow you to pay through Amazon, as well, so you get Amazon shipping costs instead of theirs. Instead of the $36 estimate it was $20! I'll let y'all know how it does!
