Title: who has an EB11
Post by: paperbackryder on January 20, 2016, 09:34:14 PM
Im looking for a LP jr DC ltd edition bass. Played one in Memphis when they came out. Wish I had bought it then and there.
Does anybody have experience playing one of these. Does anyone have one for sale?

Our co-founder Uwe owns one, his won't be for sale though.

Has Uwe ever sold any instrument...?
Just moves to bigger offices when he runs out of space...

I don't think he's sold any of his Gibsons. Maybe some other brands, I don't know.

Anybody else here have one? Officially this was called the LP Junior DC Bass (http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Bass/Gibson-USA/LP-Junior-DC-Bass.aspx)

"Our co-founder ..." -    Now I feel like I'm about 100 years old!

If you like the look, the DC RI is a nice little bass, but it really doesn't do anything that the SG RI/Standard can't do just as well. It's a more massive instrument than both today's SG Bass or the LP Junior DC Bass of yore, so it sounds perhaps a bit thuddier, but not much.

I'm not selling mine. Haven't sold anything but two basses in my life so far (regretted sale of both!), but I will have to eventually thin out the herd as retirment (and the lack of office space) closes in!

If you're ever cramped for space, I'll volunteer to foster the SPCB. I would promise to mentor it and teach it proper behavior.

well, Uwe, as retirement nears, please think of me. I had an EB11 in my hands at the Memphis store and loved it. My fiance gave me "that" look and I folded too fast.  :-[

I saw I band last weekend where the bassist played an EB-11. It sounded great in a rock band setting. Authoritative but not muddy. After that show I looked for one online and found the one at Music Zoo. The price seemed good. When I hit "Add to Cart" I got a "no longer in stock" message. Not to be.

That's too bad. I just tried and got the same result as you. I've seen Music Zoo put a Sold notice on their listings before, so it's odd not to see it on this one.
