Seller claims it's a refinish. If that is the case it must have been done ages ago. Looks original Inverness Green to me.
EDIT: Oh wait the paint goes all the way to the edge of the fingerboard. So I guess it is a refin.
Why are all interesting Gibson Basses on Ebay from Japanese sellers nowadays?
That is a bass Baz redid.
John, Barklessdog owned it before Baz.

The original custom color NRs had the paint go all the way to the fretboard, a certain sign of a refin is one where the paint doesn't go all the way to the edge of the fretboard.
Is this the one Baz sent to RS for the re-fin? the original auction had pics of the back of the headstock and the serial number looked authentic.
God, that bass is so SEXY in Green!
Yep. This was from John Fertg. That is the ONLY bass I regret getting rid of. RS did the finish and relic. The bass has had the following done to it:
Refin and Relic.
Control Cavity was almost completely broken off and repaired by Roy.
Tailpiece was plugged and reset.
Bridge was plugged and moved forward into proper intonated position.
Serial was restamped by my-I have Gibson serial number stamps.
Nice big fat neck...I miss that bass but it's oNLY about a $2,500-$3,500 bass TOPS!
There is no such place as Inverness Green... just so you know... I was there yesterday... and the day before... and the one before that... and...

When I first visited ebay some years back, to research before buying my first eb3, I copied a number of gibson bass auctions - mainly instruments made between 1960 to 1969. I also noted their price, and where they shipped from.
I see now that many of the older Gibsons that sells from Japan these days, is the same instruments sold some years back from American ebay sellers - and mainly well known vintage shops.

Well they certainly are pushing the prices up with a factor 3.
A Les Paul Bass or Triumph would fetch something like 1200 USD a while ago. Now they're asking between 3000 and 4500 USD :o

Yes, weather-wise rather look for Inverness Grey. That's a common color there this time of the year. 50 shades of it too.
Yeah, NICE job on that one Baz. Roy sure nailed the color!
.....INSANE price though.
Thanks! I am so detailed and tedious with all of my restorations....shit..I'm probably the world's biggest authority or expert on 1960's Gibson Thunderbirds on their construction...I don't f*** around...
Inverness White at present...
