I was wondering whether I should hit the BIN.

I know Comrade Hornung does not hold them in high regard... I think...
But it looks really cool.
That looks like a great bargain!
Sold. Did you get it, Ilan?
Nope. Someone else was more decisive.

I'm not sure about that. It's the original "V" Bass that Uwe does not like too much. The Ripper pickups in combination with the body shape make the old "V" sound somewhat meek.
But this reissue Flying V bass has TB + humbuckers. They should make the bass sound more authoritative.
Right Uwe?
Right, the 80/81 Flying Vs take a lot of work to make them sound even decent (meek pups, unremarkable woods), but the all-maho reissues of a few years ago sound fine out of the box. Ballsy and with warmth. You won't get a Chris Squire sound out of them, but if you go for a blurry tone, slightly more aggressive than a modern day SG bass would sound, then you will have nothing to complain about.
Like all good legal-types, I placed the caveat in plain sight... ;)
IIRC these retailed for about $1300-1400. Somebody got a good deal.
