Just arrived unplated Badbird II! Test installed on my 2001 Gibson Thunderbird. They didn't send me metric anchors so I had to wing it. I am very pleased wit the results!(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/Badbird%20II%20prototypes%20002_zpsyq48x7ut.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/Badbird%20II%20prototypes%20001_zpswsxezf94.jpg)

Excuse my ignorance, but is it a direct replacement for 3-point bridges?

Yes that is the purpose. A more 60s like bridge with the advantages of the tail piece,  that being no windings on the saddles and a greater angle string break. Plus it looks much better; )

What will prevent it from tilting?

This bridge uses the same double collared anchors as the Badbird. I may have a single collar anchor made to back up under the front of the bridge.

The separate tailpiece should keep it from lifting.

The separate tailpiece should keep it from lifting.

String pressure and leverage might still make it tilt slightly forward, but with the tailpeice it should be mostly canteleivered pretty good.  Hard to say till you try it with high tension strings.  That third stud GoT mentioned would be good insurance though.  Might I recommend that if it does not attach to the bridge in any specific way, that that single collar be made extra large, and include a rubber/felt pad or washer?

If there are any minor perfections necessary after this/these initial BB2 samples count me in also for a replacement on my '01. I' ll even go for the nickle/ chrome and swap the keys out for nickle tuners. Already going to have Lull make me up a pair of his replacement pickups. Was going to have black covers but now that I saw this may as well go all the way.
