Whoopti#%*@ingdoo.
Because the EB took the world by storm? :bored:
Uwe will want one of these too...
For a company known for the Flying V, that's a confusing name...
Could this be sort of a reissue of the late 80s Gibson V (a/k/a Gibson Bass IV and V) but with a different headstock? Those had T-Bird pickups and Precision-ish bodies.
Or possibly a new version of the Continental V? :P

I liked the headstock on the IVs and Vs.

He's still hopeful! ;D
Do you think they keep this page (http://www.gibson.com/Files/USA_PDFs/Data_ContinentalV_bass.pdf)up just to be a burr under his nylon saddles...? ;)

HAHAHHA Dammit Kenny you might owe me a keyboard.
I have a couple of spares up in the loft for just such occasions...
Any links/pics?

Nah... just a couple of standard European HP keyboards...
(Curiosity... did you vote yes or no?)
Mark... be gentle with
him when he arrives... :vader:
I haven't found anything from Gibson yet but I did dig up these codes:
BAV4NABC1 Gibson Bass V-bass 4 string Natural
BAV5NABC1 Gibson Bass V-bass 5 string Natural
which led me to these links without pics (yet) at a couple of European stores:
V-bass 4 (http://www.alfasoni.com/wproductos.asp?modelo=V-BASS%204%20STRING%202015%20VS&tipo=estado&a=Guitarras%20-%20Bajos&p=Bajos&h=Bajos%20Electricos&n=Otros%20Bajos%204%20Cuerdas&estado=11%20Novedad&dmarca=GIBSON&titulo=V-BASS%204%20STRING%202015%20VS%20-%20GIBSON)
V-bass 5 (http://www.tiendamusicasa.es/musicasa/Item/BAJ_ELE_GIB_VBASS.aspx?)
Alfasoni's price including VAT is 3200 €, compared to their price of 2340 € including VAT for the 2015 Thunderbird. All I can say to that is wow.
I only have a very bad drawing of the V.
Silhouette anyone?
Chris P, is this the "bad drawing" you were referring to?
I was intrigued, but now I'm just mildly curious after seeing the 4K price tag!
That looks like a Lakland..
Yep, that 'drawing' :)
With a $4K price tag and nothing but a description, you have to wonder why these stores even bother to list it.
The actual bass may turn out looking nothing like the line drawing (or the Flying V silhouette).
Am I ordering one?! ???
You just might!
On that sketch at least, it does look like a bad mutation of an EB though ... And those were already some ugly mofos, never mind Minnesotan minority opinions. ;) Why does Henry J test my faith, love and devotion thus? :-\ It's been 75 years since that little border incident we had with the country of his origins.
"Chambered maho body, AAA maple top, stunning appearance, three-band active circuit ..."
It's been a long time (Lee Sklar Signature) since Gibson has ventured near anything with a battery basswise.
Patient be we must.

Oh, "that little border incident" ;D
Mock must ye not...

Au contraire! You're forgetting this (http://www.gibson.com/Files/USA_PDFs/Data_ContinentalV_bass.pdf) active gem! You already have one of them, don't you?
That was totally uncalled for, David, and you know it!
Et Tu Brute Dave...?
Gee....with all the "great" (choke) new Gibson Bass ideas as of late, they may as well finally issue this prototype from decades ago. Yes, Epi logo...but stamped "Official Gibson Prototype" on the back of the headstock.
Maybe the guy who designed this one now has his son working in the design department?
BTW.....I talk FULL responsibility for Henry J's insanity. I was the top all-night FM radio DJ in Rochester, NY during Hemry's formulative years. I played a LOT of fked up music on the radio from midnight-6 a.m. and likely drove Henry to mind altering substances at an early age.
[Well, me PLUS the old LSD-induced House of Guitars TV commercials....]
....sorry Henry. :)

Hey, at least Gibson actually made at least one Continental V. There are photos, and IIRC one was seen at Musikmesse.
All we've seen so far of the Gibson V is an out-of-proportion line drawing.
I SAW and TOUCHED it! Didn't look horrible, like a Tobias in principle, the kind of bass to take to a bass clinic to be marvelled at.

Aaaaakkkkkk! My eyes! My eyes!
.... guess my mother was wrong all those years about what would cause my inevitable blindness....
Some prototypes should stay just that. 8)
