I always thought pineapples grew on trees too! :-[ It was only when we had one growing in our garden in Africa that I realized that they grow "out of the ground".
I immediately forwarded this important historical horticulture video to some friends. Perfect day for it, too!
Ah... the good ol' BBC...
(apparently, the budget for the shoot was £100)
Another hoax. Spaghetti grows straight out of the ground like a flower. I had an uncle with a piece of property that was two miles long and two inches wide and all he could grow on it was spaghetti. Spaghetti trees, that's ridiculous :P.

On a serious note, if you've never spaghetti made from a spaghetti squash, it tastes better, and is much better for you.
You just cut the squash in half lengthwise and microwave it in water with some salt in five minute increments until the "spaghetti" pulls out by just dragging a fork across it. It has the same texture as noodle pasta, but a sweeter flavor, and the bonus of being a vegetable.
