Well I couldn't take it any more and gave in. I'll be picking up Baz's '69 NR and bring it home on Saturday! I am super stoked I sold my near mint NR about seven years ago and have regretted it ever since. The missus always said I could get another "someday" well that day is here! A quick pic(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/69thunderbirdfrombaz.jpg)
Cool. While you're there find a Portillo's and get a Chicago Hot Dog (or two).I'm missing those dogs and probably won't get that way for a month or so.
Dogs are good, but the beef is where it's at! And don't forget the cheese fries.
Congrats Scott. Always nice to see one stay in the family here. Let me know if you have time to swing by the case shop here. There's a Portillo's right down the road. ;D
Unfortunately Scott and I are meeting somewhere 1/2 way in between Orland Park and Rochester...otherwise I would take him to Johnnie's Beef in Elmwood Park. And after that...I drive down to Columbus, IN to pick up my new vintage Hiwatt DR201. I am SO glad Scott is getting this...He deserves this Killer bass...He digs the NR..while I dig the Reverse....All good!!!
Again thanks Baz I am soooooooooooooooo excited about this bass! I am tired of bottom feeding, you waved this under my nose one to many times ;)
Congrats to both of you.

They have opened two locations here recently. EVERYONE raves about the beef!!! I need to hit up one of these places.
You are NOT a bottom feeder...you, Like me, worked it with buying-trading-selling like me to obtain what you want. I'm still so happy you are getting this bass and I'm getting a 200 watt Hiwatt DR201 !!! Whoo Hoo!!!
Keep watching for three-figure serial numbers...
Nice trade off for you both, and seeeeeeriously envious, Scott... ;)
COOL
Lovely bass! Congrats---life is too short not to go for the stuff that means something to you.
YES!!!!!
Ah, isn't love grand? When two souls meet and the result is a an NR, it makes me all teary. ;D. Seriously, it couldn't go to a better home than the Rochester GOT NR Museum and Hiwatt Emporium.

You two should get together with the HOG, have them promote a tour of your museums for a cut of the ticket price. ;)
You could meet in wheaton and we could have Gino's East pizza?
It was WAY too short!! Scott, is an awesome guy. WAY not enough time...someday, Pal...someday... Again...what a pleasure it was to sell Scott the bass and then drive down to pickup my 1971 200 Watt Hiwatt DR201 that was made for Colin Pattenden, the bass player from Manfred Mann. I'm the 3rd owner!!!
I still REALLY Miss that NR I got from you, John...the one I had refinned and reliced Inverness Green....oh man...I miss that bass.....but I love the White '64 Thunderbird I traded it for....
I spent just about 11 1/2 hours in the car, well worth the drive, I can't imagine shipping such a rare and beautiful bass. I am shocked how clean this bass is, a few dings and finish crazing but there is like zero player wear on this thing! The action when I got it was pretty high I gave the truss rod a little tweak and installed a Badbird. The Badbird has shorter saddles that the original bridge so that helps but another trick I use is to mount the bridge flush with the body buy running the studs straight through and not using the collar on the stud. Simple solution and it brings things down another 1/8" or so. This would also work with the original bridge. Pictures soon!
Congrats, Scott!
From my cel phone, I'll get the good camera out in a bit. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/Thunderbird1969withbadbird.jpg)
Looks like a Dasson-ized ThunderBird!!!!!!!!If you EVER want to sell me that original bridge or one just like it, Let me know...I have a Korina Futura 4 string on mind mind......
Gunna have to keep the bridge. It's a investment I want to keep it all together and original.
Congrats Scott, nice score!
Very nice
More pictures ;D This bass was never played much bought and put under a bed, the case is cleaner than a new case you'd get at the H.O.G. Makes me wonder the original owners fate. Was he drafted during Vietnam and not make it home? Or did he just lose interest? Baz any history on this bass?(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/1969ThunderbirdII001_zps80592831.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/1969ThunderbirdII002_zpsc1904ac9.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/1969ThunderbirdII003_zps9941f5fe.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/1969ThunderbirdII004_zps1bf7e1ed.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/1969ThunderbirdII005_zps16cb4c71.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/1969ThunderbirdII006_zps5f200ff2.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/1969ThunderbirdII007_zpsdc632172.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/1969ThunderbirdII008_zpseef3ffb4.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/1969ThunderbirdII009_zpsd71b3a5a.jpg)
That's in remarkably good shape.
Sorry Bro. Nothing...It was owned by a collector named Kevin Rush, who Phil Angotti at Avenue N guitars in Chicago, sold it for.
Forget the look... how does she sound...?
(ok, she looks a beaut... happy now...? ;))

Happy for the moment ;) She sounds like a good Thunderbird should, I have only played it through my practice amp :( no time to get out and fire up the Hiwatts.
amazing shape. the frets look brand new like it never saw round wounds.
Enjoy.

Just warn the neighbourhood about the risk of brown-out... ;D
Problem with the bass is its in too nice a condition. Now your going to be hyper about scratching it or taking it out of the house.
Lol your right John! Part of it for me is just owning it. I'll play it but only in the right places.
Congrats, Scott. It's in the right hands!

Much better than a stock cirtificate at least you can play it. Will it sit in its case or on display in your box of crayons?
I hate to be the one that says it (as John's raised the spectre) but Scott did make a comment a year or two back about knowing that an unbroken neck is just one waiting for it to happen, which is why he was reluctant to go there again... I'm not quoting directly, just something in the back of my mind...
Bro... just make sure they are wide open spaces and no sudden turns... more JAE than your usual style... ;)
Yep I did say that. It's ok I'll take the risk ;)

Well worth it!
Definitely maybe!
Definitely envious...
got to play it. just no seedy bars....,.
Hey, there are tons of unbroken Gibson necks out there - I'm sure. There must be plenty of people who have been careful enough to avoid that.
Yes...I'm sure there are.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
I have many gibson's, some of them are worn well and have been rocking hard.
I travel with them and play them, I know they can snap easily but they haven't done so yet.
Actually, I've never really seen a broken gibson bass, although I saw a snapped guitar neck once, an SG (late 70's).
It seems that they can handle 40+ years of rock'n'roll pretty well, but of course.. ship it with the wrong company
and it might break anyway...
Which is why I picked it up from Baz!

My Embassy is not only unbroken, but also has a clean finish. No checking anywhere, and you would probably all cringe at the abuse I gave it for the first 20 years. It's babied now.

And that's why I drove the Embassy up to Mark when he bought if from me, and then again when I bought it back.
Before I take it out I am going to get a road case for it. Think I'll ask Tom H. if he can do one for me.

Wow you drove to Australia?
;)
Damn, Scott, that bass is beautiful! Congratulations!
Thanks Dennis I'm still pinching myself! The only bummer is I don't have a gig to play it with.
