Yall know anything about this? Carlo's bass is so good my Bass GAS is dead, so now I'm looking at amps...

Looks like it's pretty much a 200s with a single Sunn 15" speaker instead of 2-JBL D-140s. I'd definitely give it a listen. Supposed to be 60 watts.

The ballsiest 60 watts you can play through
If I were in the market, I'd grab that. Memories of my 1968 Sonaro combo.
That's a killer amp at about 1/3 of general retail value. It may need some TLC, but those amps are easy to work on. Don't walk, RUN to get it!

Agreed, well built and easy to service. Sunn amps sound really good, never heard this exact model though.
But I'd get this one if I could!
Wow, if that were local, I'd jump on it!
Same here !
Then you'd all turn around and sell it due to not enough power (or there would be a converting to KT88s thread) :P
Is that a 1x15? If so it's nice and large; yummy.
looks clean....decent deal, although that is the lower end bass cab with the SUNN 15 and not the JBL d140.
That head is pretty much the same as a 200S head. The cab is only like 11.5 inches deep, whereas the VERY desire able I-40 single 15 that is JBL loaded is like 14 inches deep and ported differently.
The head alone, if it doesn't need any work, is worth the asking price alone.
I've got a couple of them. Love old SUNN stuff, especially the 200S and 2000S.

Not every situation calls for more power, this amp will cover recordings, playing at home , and probably
smaller gigs and band rehearals (if it's not a loud rock band).
Yeah....maybe you need a BIGGER Sunn rig.

I couldn't agree more ;D. They used larger watts in the 200s model.

It's a free country! :P
Get it, Mike! That's a real deal!

Everyone tells me that my 200S is only 60 watts.

Yeah, I know (it was mostly a tease). My main rig is a 50-60 watt EL34 amp running into a single 15 so similar enough in terms of volume. It's easily enough for practice or recording. Never played a small enough gig (that was a full band, nevermind hard rock) where it had enough power to keep it as clean as I would have ideally liked. Always had to push it more than I wanted, but once I did it had enough juice and cutting power (and it is not a hi gain amp - its one of them PA/vocal heads with a 4 channel mixer so designed to be a bit cleaner).
In addition to the nature of my amp, I'd suspect from the commentary so far(ballsy etc), and my experience with other Sunn models , that this one would be much dirtier than mine (also I have a master volume so that helps too) so if someone wants to play gigs through this rig, as is, in a band situation, your tone will include significant amp overdrive, which is not a bad thing, just not always the right thing. ... or go the mc2NY route (dude, very nice). ... or lower stage volume and put more bass in the monitors (which I do not recommend on principle but to each his own).
.
I freely admit that if I had that system, even though I love my Genz stuff, I would rock it! That's just lovely.

It was certainly loud enough for club work back in its day. Then again, typical gig volume levels in a club weren't as high as today.
Exactly. An awesome rig for the right person. And certainly a good looking one.
I've had my car keys in my hand since this thread was started - what a beauty!

There are a lot of vintage pieces that I really love, particularly old Sunn stuff, but I wouldn't trade my Genz for anything. The more I play my Shuttle 6.0, the more I love it. The sound, the definition, the weight, I just plain love it ;D. I don't think I've ever been so satisfied with an amp.

I actually agree. That's why I would rock it IF I had it...but I wouldn't spend the money on it, even though it's very cool.
Got it! Thanks for your input, ya'll. I'll put up the family photo when I get a chance. Thing is super clean, and sounds super great!
Great! :toast:
You won't be disappointed.

Congrats, it looks very cool! Hope it sounds as good!
Nice score! Love Brownsville Station!
Cub Koda, gone way too soon.
Yep way to soon. I always loved his playing...................more than the band itself.
