He really loves that case.

Here's what my '67 looked like when I got it. I would think they cheapened the EB-2 sometime after that:

NOT early '60s IMO
That one in the auction is missing the crown inlay on the headstock. ???
Nut is not original either... but hey at least "NOTHING IS CRACKED, FIXED, REPLACED OR WAS BROKEN" ;)

I like the 'burst on it, though!
And yeah- probably a '64-67-ish
Any definitive answer as to when Gibson started using those crap tuners? Anyone own a personal EB with silkscreened logo and certain on its date of manufacture?

Those tuners look like the wavy grovers on my 4001... as opposed the cheapie ones used on the Kalamazoos.
Bet this was a headless EB-2 at some point ;)
Grovers (which, to my knowledge, Gibson never used):

Kalamazoo tuners, used on some of the later 60s EB-*s

Good eye! Can't believe it's up to $1200+
Headstock of my EB-2. It's a '69.

The EB-2 basses always had the pearl logo and crown inlay. Somebody is going to get ripped off on that Ebay auction..... :o

To the tune of 1600.00.
Wow.

Once again a 9.99 opening bid brings stupid money like flies to s**t. Let's see if the buyer wises up before he pays.
Caveat emptor fail...
Several presently for sale but this one looks right for dates...? (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1964-Gibson-USA-EB-2-EB2-Semi-Hollow-Electric-Bass-Guitar-Sunburst-/141059859228?pt=Guitar&hash=item20d7d2a31c) and started at $99.99

Looks right to me. All nickel, correct bridge and low profile pickup cover, bakelite bari switch, etc. Fun to see what it goes for.
I've seen EB0's with the Kalamazo tuners before, but never the higher end models. Never seen any 60s Gibson EB without logo inlay either.
Also the bridge looks weird (bigger/longer like Japanese hos), but that could just be lighting.
Suspect shenanigans. Definitely not worth the price.

Agreed. Seller says Blue Book is $2500, he may be right but I think that's unrealistic.
