Not to bad.
Very tempting!
Mine! To good a deal to let go by. Thanks for the heads up!
I knew you were looking Scott. Glad you got it!
I suddenly have the urge to play Dennis Dunaway riffs.
Two more pots, a choke, a rotary switch, a capacitor, a small humbucker, green paint, spandex... and your there...
The "frog" was a EB0 that Dennis put a P bass pickup in along with the mudbucker. I would love to do a frog tribute but these days I hate hacking up vintage stuff...................even something as common as a EB0.
Hard to go wrong at that price.

Kenny, in a daze, picks himself up from the floor, in a state of shock... ;D
Nice score, Scott!
Congrats!
Should I mention that the '70(?) EB-0 slothead I got around '98 cost me $12? I traded someone I worked with a bunch of power tools. I think Mark F still has it.
I remember in the late 1980's I got a '67 EB-3 for $140 (Model 1 Dimarzio at the neck position) and a 1975 Ripper for $160. These were at the same pawn shop. Wish those days would come back....

Yeah, those were the days....
'64 Precision - $150
'66 Epi Newport - $225
Guild M-85 hollowbody - $225 MINT
'63 Strat - $245 new

I like the bass sounds Dennis gets out of the frog on love it to death, good songs there too.
P and mud is a far better combination than J/mud, which is quite common. I tried lots of bridge pups on the eb3,
some works OK but I guess it's too close to the bridge.
Hack up some P's instead, I love the stuff Rick Laird plays with the Mahavishnu orchestra, sunburst P with mud at the neck :)
Holy crap; good score, bud.

$1812 in 2012 dollars.
Why didn't anyone tell me that back then?

Full time tuition at the University of Florida in 1964-65 was $226 a year (2 trimesters). I had a $500 scholarship and "National Defense" loan for $600. I was able to pay for my dorm room, meal plan, books, food, Ampeg B-18N, '60 EBO and an SG Jr. Don't remember what I wasted the rest of it on.
If I had money, I'd be on the lookout for an EB-4 or the new Bach 335. If I had a LOT of money, I'd hit up a new Gibson Memphis. ...but I don't. :-\
Have you spotted Brad's post re a very cheap EB0 he's selling now...?
I was just dreaming out loud.
Also an EB4 has little in common with an EB0 aside from body shape (and even there, there are differences depending on the era of EB0).

There's also Mel Schacher's bass from the early Grand Funk years.

I do still have that slot head EB-0L for which I paid you $250 + two bottles of Barbancourt rum IIRC.

Still have the Barbancourt? ;)
You only ever rent that stuff...
got my excellent condition 64 ebo for $450 about 12-13 years ago..
It's here ! Farm fresh as they say. Quite possibly the filthiest bass I have ever bought. I did a quick clean and set up and it plays like a good EB0 should. A classic little thumper delivered to my door for less than 600 bucks I pretty damn happy! Pics soon.
Still a lot of wax on this bass that needs to be cleaned off, I'll have to take it apart at some point but in the mean time got it looking a bit better. Plays and sound great! Begging for a three-point mod...? :vader:
Kenny your such a spoon. Naw I'll leave it as is.
Looks nice Scott. I love those witch hat knobs.

:P :P :P
If there were a serious problem with the bridge, he could get the 2-point version of the Hipshot Supertone. Hell, even a Badass Original would be preferable to a 3-point.
Quite frankly, Scott, quite envious of that one... ;)
Dave... there is a Badass #1 lurking in the shed that has graced both the RD and then the PC when she became Tequilabird...
Are those inlay fills aluminum?
Nope they are the original MOP. The paint has chipped off. I may redo it or leave it as is, I'm not all that bothered by it.
That's something that's made me curious... I vaguely remember removing the "facing" from the front of my '72 SG Special and it being a plastic-type material with a "white" Gibson "print", but looking at the RD the MOP looks like individual pieces rather than something that was painted...
Are they all a solid, single piece with a "painted" logo...?
This was a cost saving measure done by Gibson in '67 (I think) They went back to the cut letter logo pretty quickly but I'm not sure which year.

I think they changed the headstock inlays when or after they switched to the Evertilt bridge. Both of my 67s, EBO and EB2, have early style bridges and letter logo inlays.
So maybe '68 was the first year for this ?

So the gibson letters were painted on, not a decal overlay?

I have an EB-1 late sixties reissue just like that, maybe they used a not very durable paint on the Gibson lettering in those years. I've left it as is too.
My old '68 project EB-3 had the same type inlay. You can see the peeling in the pic.
