South American predators having a ball in innocent virgin Scandinavian lakes? Globalisation gone too far!!!

This isn't very reassuring either:

"Though its teeth are used mainly to crush nuts ..."

Damn, all my family lives on the Øresund, better warn them so i can be sure to see the family grow..... I've ones seen a documentary about that fish before, but that was from Africa (or South America...or Asia, can't remember). Though there's many sweetwater fishes able to survive in that sea, not being very salty, i'm pretty sure the water would be to cold in the winter for it to survive there.

Those pacus have become so bad in New Guinea that they've killed off most of the local fish as well. They had been intentionally imported to eat algae and aquatic plants but multiplied so rapidly that they overwhelmed the entire ecosystem. There's an episode of "River Monsters" about it.

As ecological experts go, humans have an awful lot to learn.

Never mind (http://edition.cnn.com/2013/08/10/world/europe/scandanavia-swim-warning/index.html?hpt=hp_c6) -- at least in Scandinavia.

Living from fruit and nuts dropping into the water is going to be some chore in Scandinavia - don't think those South Americans will topple the eco-system there.

Ah yes... your ex-pats... the noble Sciurus Carolinensis and the Branta Canadensis Maxima ... and let's not forget that you would not have the Sturnus Vulgaris but for the generosity of our visitations... ;D
