Title: Gibson's All-Star Jam Band at Summer NAMM
Post by: Dave W on June 25, 2008, 08:32:34 PM
Lots of Gibson guitars (http://www.modernguitars.com/archives/004504.html), but apparently playing a Gibson bass wasn't mandatory.

I see Billy Cox playing an SG Supreme, but that's about it. Oh well, I'm not surprised.  :-\

2 shots of Fender basses, one shot of an SG Supreme (a couple of a Tobias, which is still owned by Gibson right?). Who was hosting this party again? Do they ever try to market their basses?

Small wonder there are virtually NO lefty Gibson basses. :(

Nice avatar, Nokturnal!

I'm relieved there was at least one Gibson bass present (though Tobias and Valley Arts can be considered as part of the family) - and that was probably only by accident or because Billy Cox felt it was "the right thing to do" rather than at any instigation from Gibson's marketing department (which as regards marketing 4 stringers gives new meaning to the term "Sleepy Hollow").

Isn't Jerry Cantrell a big G&L user and endorser?

I had a very good relationship with the Dutch Gibson distributor. Now Gibson founded Gibson Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg). I mailed the press lady today about our magazine and Gibson basses. I hope she replies and that she knows they actually have (*) basses.

(*) I wanted to say 'sell,' but that's another story.

Yes, they've done away with all their European distributors. Henry J didn't want no middlemen anymore. Hope this improves their presence.
