Sandberg Custom built "Sandbird" Thunderbird style Bass Guitar - Hardcore Aged Masterpiece
.........custom built Sandberg thunderbird style bass. Check out Sandberg website www.sandberg-guitars.com for a look at the magic they can create.
This is the 1st & only of its type in Australia (at the moment) with the Haussel pickup chosen to spec so the bass is close to a vintage Precision bass in tone. Alder Body. Hardcore aged masterpiece means this thing sounds & plays amazingly. Zero fret & string tree on the A string makes the sustain awesome. Modelled after 2 similar (but not identical spec.) basses built for TURBOSTAAT bassist Toby Knopp.
Will courier at buyers expense which will vary on location obviously.
Check out the other vintage basses I have listed also.
Bid with confidence.

Lucky for Australia that it's the only one there.
Ugly relic job on a bass designed to look like what a 60s Japanese copy might look like, with that pickup.
Sandberg is quite popular in Holland, especially their P and J copies. They do a very good job in relicing. If you like relics or not, of course is another discussion.
No relicing here. All damage is from the 1970s. :)

Agree with you, Dave, on that one. Looks Japanese 60's. Proportions, pickguard, pickup.
Super ugly with that pickup. But, at that price it's not really a viable project to drop a Thunderbucker into.

I don't like relics, but there are are good relic jobs and bad ones, and that one is beyond bad. That doesn't look like simulated wear, it looks like it was abused by a rabid gorilla.
Why would you build a Fenderbird, and then try to make it sound like a Precision?

My thoughts exactly.
With my fanfret Precision, it started with a long search for a mahogany body. I wanted a wolf in sheep's clothing. 8)
Looks like something that washed ashore. :-\

It floated in with the tsunami debris from Japan.
Not that unusual for tsunami debris...

Exactly what I was thinking!
Sandberg make fine instruments but they are more at ease with Fender shapes. This is grossly let down by the pg which looks makeshift at best.
The pg looks like a Marcus Miller Jazz Bass. :puke:
Overtly 'orrible.

Maybe they do make
some fine instruments. I'd never buy one after seeing this pile of crap. If you want a reputation as a maker of fine basses, you don't let something like this out of your factory.

;) Yep!
We're getting A LOT of that on our Coast, pretty serious issue here in the real Washington.
We saw news of a fishing boat that had turned up near the west coast unannounced a while back...

You're not saying that the work of these fine German craftsmen is patchy, are you, Dave?

They just try to please a lot of people all at once.
