Title: Tribute to ridiculous voices
Post by: Dave W on April 03, 2013, 01:44:37 PM
I don't think ridiculous is the right word, but some of these made me laugh. Especially Brian Johnson.

I love Jim Breuer. His "Brian Johnson" is orders of magnitude better than the one in the first video. BTW, the bass player's backup bass on the stand is a blonde Money Bass. In the first video, the Geddy Lee, Dolly Parton, Billie Holiday, and Neil Young were pretty bad, but the Bob Dylan is dead-on.

I went to Saturday Night Live a few years back.  Before the show, they bring out a few comedians to get the crowd in a good mood before the horrible skits ruin your evening.  Jim Breuer was one of those guys and his standup routine had everyone rolling.

Nice video, Dave!  I especially liked the Dylan...I've always said he had more success than any other singer who couldn't sing.

Obviously, you ignore the current pop charts.  :rimshot:

Very well done.  That's some funny shit.  It is ridiculous though.  That's a whole gang of people with way too much time on their hands.

Aren't about 90% of YouTube videos are made by people with too much time on their hands?  :)

That reminds me. Back when Richard Belzer was doing standup -- this has got to be late 1970s -- he did a funny bit imagining Bob Dylan in his 80s. Now Dylan is already in his 70s. Scary how time flies.

And just imagine how much worse they'd sound without autotune.

Back in '07, I attended a JAE Foundation benefit at BB King's that featured Brian Johnson / Cliff Williams, Joe Lynn Turner, Mark Farner and  two NY guys that were members of JAE's solo band - Mark Hitt and Steve Longo of Rat Race Choir. An unannounced guest was Jim Breuer, who did a couple of duets on AC/DC songs with Brian. From that evening:

It is funny.
But I think it's a bit weak they needed to put the names in the lower left corner.
If the imitations are good enough that is not necessary.

It helped me...I didn't know all the originals.

I had never heard of Michael McDonald at all and wouldn't have known what Macy Gray or Aaron Neville's voices sound like.
