I do recognize that tendency to not "just pedal through something". It happens to me.
Not that I am enamored of that particular bass line.

The Breeders song cannonball has another good line from her.

I wish she would use complete sentences. And, there are real bass players that understand the need for simplicity. Chris Squire is one of those outstanding bass players that knows when 'thump, thump, thump' works just fine.

I don't want to slame her but I don't get what she's say'n or play'n. ???

I've always liked Kim's approach and she's always made it clear she doesn't consider herself a "real" bassist, whatever that means. OTOH there's nothing at all wrong with what she says "real" bass players do.

Kim wrote the song and may have written the bass lines, but Josie Wiggs was the bassist.

Yeah I just watched the vid and Kim's not playing bass in it. She was so cute back then. She's over 50 now. Time flies.

hey scott. she's saying don't be afraid to play simple stuff and keep an eye on your ego. that's what i get from it anyway.

I agree. Good advice, and occasionally I should remind myself of it. But generally I feel like adding one passing note is a big deal, and two notes is close to a solo.

I think she's still cute. ;)
