She was married to another old friend. It was not unexpected, she had been in hospice care at home the past few weeks, but it's still hard to hear. She fought so hard for close to two years! She even got up enough strength to play a short public gig late this summer before relapsing.
44 is way too young to go.

So sorry to hear this Dave. Some days I feel 63 is too young and then I hear something like this and it's just heartbreaking to see a life cut so short. I pray you and her family have peace and comfort from the memories she sowed with all of you. Prayers and blessings for all who feel the loss.

I'm so sorry Dave. 44 is way to young. My condolence on the loss of a friend and to her husband and family.
Sorry to hear this, Dave. At least she is no longer in pain of any sort.
Thanks, guys.
Her husband, parents and critters were with her at the end. There's some small comfort in that.
Sorry for the loss of your friend, Dave. 44 is way too young.
Condolences. Way too young, indeed. What was it that ended her life so soon?
Wow, I'm sorry Dave. Way too young. I'm glad her family was with her though I hope that can be some little comfort as they figure out how to move forward.
Gary, it was digestive system cancer, but she had so many small tumors that they were never able to find the exact origin. They threw everything at her the first two rounds of chemo and that nearly killed her. It stopped the cancer temporarily but it returned a third time a vengeance. After the third round failed, she decided she could no longer fight it.
Sorry for your loss, Dave... Cancer is no respecter of age...
Sorry for your loss Dave.
My condolences, Dave, to you and her family.
Sorry to hear that.
Peace to you all.
I'm very sorry to hear that. I have an uncle who is fighting brain cancer, but he is much older than 44.
Herzliches Beileid. Only a few days ago, the former husband of a friend and former partner in the firm died. He was in his early fifties if not younger. Cause? Flu. He was already beyond the symptoms and thought he was recovering, wham. Always a funny guy who did not take himself to seriously. Three kids, oldest one in the early twenties. What a Christmas.
Sorry for your loss pal . Been down this road too many times myself.
Rick
Sorry for your loss too Uwe. God bless.
Uwe, The Flu? Again my condolences to you and your friends family. This scares me to death my daughter is allergic to the flu shot, we sweat out every season.

I understand that.
I had spinal meningitis as an adult and ran in and out of a 107 deree temperature for five days . I was about as screwed up as you can get and end up still alive. That was without a doubt the number one as "sick as I've ever been". The number two and three "sick as I've ever been" would be my reaction to flu shots. I'm the kind of guy who will try anything twice but there sure as hell ain't a gonna be a third time on my agenda.
Rick
So sorry to hear about your losing a friend Dave. Leah sounds like she lived a very cool life in a short time, bringing people together to make music.
The flu still kills thousands of people (and not just feeble old ones) every season in a country as medically advanced as Germany. If you react badly to the vaccination then don't do it of course, for all others: It's a comparatively cheap and painless way to perhaps save your life. I've had the flu twice in my life - once in the late nineties (and I've never been as sick as hard and as long, I was still sweating and out of breath three months later) and a couple of years ago when the swine flu hit me and I fevered up to the max within two hours, the good thing about the swine flu was that the worst parts of it only lasted 36 hours - probably due to my regular flu shot, swine flu vaccine wasn't yet available -, the other flu had me in bad "can't find no sleep" fever for more than a week.
It's not just a more severe cold, remember that whether you are vaccinated or not.
Sorry for your loss guys - both too stinking young to go.
Influenza is still the worlds biggest killer, iirc...
Roll on 2013...
Uwe... beileid...
Sorry to hear it, Dave.
