A buddy of mine recently found some photo's of my first band. This was a show we did January 14, 1978. (I was 16! :o ) We opened the show and there were 2 other bands. This was at the old Howard AFB in the former Canal Zone, Panama inside of a hangar. Love the flatbed stage. Wish I still had that old G-3. Was my first "good" bass.

Great photo! Ha, and definitely '70s!
Very true. I'd been playing for nearly 3 months by that time. Definitely several dozen pounds ago too! ;)
That's awesome! Love the how I stared out pictures!
Robert, tell us about that banner hanging from the trailer in front of the singer.
And the name of the band was "Canal Hornets" or something?
I love old photos of our bands. Very cool! By 1978, I was working, married and sold my bass stuff. Ugh!!!!!! How dumb was that? :P
Cool! Dig that Rhodes through a Twin!
The drummer (Kyle) had a 60's blue sparkle Ludwig set. The keyboard player (Donna) was the only accomplished musician in the band. She now plays concerts in the DC area. (classical) Her brother (Danny) was the guitarist and Mark was the singer. We were a band from October '77 until May of '78. I then joined an established group and played with them for a year until we had to move back stateside. That little '69 Opel Kadett really hauled some gear back then!
Uwe, the band was called "Beginnings" because it was the first band for all of us. The mural was done by the singers Mom who was a very good artist. It was what was on the tee shirts we wore as a "uniform" at the gigs. Kyle's bass drum had the design that United Artists Records used at that time and Mark's Mom painted that as well. You can barely make it out but it was just like this label.

Opel Kadett - how heartwarming!
