Title: Rob Lurvey's collection
Post by: Dave W on November 09, 2012, 02:57:18 PM
I saw Billy Connelly's Route 66 last night on PBS. This part left me astonished. The guy even owns 50 Fender Coronados. And lap steels... rooms full of them.

Great series... it was on here some time back... he found some remarkably off-beat bits of Americana... great stuff... I recently picked up a "World tour of Scotland" boxed set of his, in VCR format...

Pardon the general question, but...where do I know Rob Lurvey from?
His voice, his image are both so familiar, but I can't place exactly where I've seen him before.

BTW, thanks for the clip...awesome stuff.

I figured out who he reminded me of: James Barber - The Urban Peasant

(I may need a vacation - this would have kept me up all night)

I had never heard of him before. Not a lot on Google aside from the Billy Connelly connection, but he did put out a book with DVD (http://www.vintageandrare.com/product/Guitar-Collector-Rob-Lurvey-2011-19031) last year and here's (http://www.gearwire.com/lap-steel-collector-guitarshow.html) a little story on him at the Chicago Guitar Show in 2007.
