Another new bass out soon essentially a long scale EB2D. Colors Black, Sunburst, Cherry, and I think Pelham Blue. Nice looking bass. I think MAP is around 1,500. It has chrome hardware :)
Gibson?
Now that I would probably spring for, even with a three point.
Yep Gibson.
Isn't this 2 basses Gibson decided to do after BaCH played around with the idea?
Cherry sounds so cool!
The Midtown guitars are already out and listed on the usual websites and even in stock at some of them.
Well what you know about that!
Found them.

Haha, looks like it yes!
Any pics/links?
Last I heard from Gibson they were going to be short scale? Long scale would be great, but make them more LP Sig than EB-2.
Same pups as the SG bass.
I really hope it will be long scale, the NR bird disappointed me a bit so this might be coming my way when it surfaces.
I am hoping it is long scale as well. I never liked the LP Signature bass- it was a nice idea but fugly dink cutaway and goofy electronics and layout. A straight EB-2d long scale would be nice and simple. I would like ES-355 inlays and trim too, but what the heck. Let's see what happens. They can screw it up.
Those "goofy electronics" are responsible for one of the best Gibson bass sounds ever! I thought the LP/Triumph hobbits overdone in that department, but the LP Sig chicken head switch is intuitive. Even for me.
Gibson employees are already hard at work on the Midtown bass' electronics - feverishly winding inductor coils for the baritone switches...

:o
Google draws a blank on this thing - yet they are already in stores? Bizarre. Great marketing, Gibson!
The guitars are in the stores, not basses. Same as the non-reverse Firebirds are in the stores, but the Thunderbirds not yet.
Google: Gibson Midtown

Read the description. It's not a hollowbody, it's a chambered mahogany body with a maple top.

You'll love the feel of the new Midtown body shape. Larger than your typical solidbody but smaller than a hollowbody, the Midtown feels just right cradled in your arms. And the '60s Slim-Taper neck gives you the comfortable playability you expect from a Gibson
That helps explain why they introduced Midtown guitars when they already have the 335 shapes covered. That would hardly even be considered a semihollow, at least not in the same sense as an EB-2/335. Nothing wrong with that construction, though.
Edit: looks like the ES-335, and other ES models are now only offered in the Gibson Custom series.
So it's built like a Les Paul Standard with chunked out mahogany. I am still cool with that. I don't really gak over the tiny 335 body. I would prefer a regular ES-335 with a big chunk of maple inside, but this is ok. I am still keeping my hopes up! It will probably sound a bit like the nr Tbird I am guessing with long scale and glued into a piece of mahogany.
