" only the best players in the world own these ". :P
Wow, what a terrible sanding job.
Crappy sanding job, yes, but that sure is a beautiful hunk of mahogany.
I think that bass has flipped a couple times this year, the owner posted it on TB in the Thunderbird club thread last week.
Yeah I saw it............................... kinda got the feeling he was looking to flog it.
The auction tanked, I'm sure we will see it again.
I honestly think he paid something like 5k for that bass sometime in the last year or so, and that he got it from a guy on TB, he paid too much.
Another one, would be a much better purchase IMO

It's sure a hell of a lot better looking. Would be nice if his reserve is reasonable.
I'm talking with him now ............................if he paid 5k I doubt we can come to terms.
What would you guys offer for it?
On the '65 with repaired headstock and needing a refin I'd start at $1500. The '68 I wouldn't even consider buying; I'd end up breaking it if I played it.
LOL I started at 1400, seller said any number he would consider had to start with a 2. Anyone think 2k is a good deal for the '65?

I would say it might be OK if you can do the required work yourself. I don't know that I'd want to put more money in it. I didn't like the look of the headstock repair. It looked functional, but could have been a lot cleaner. I think this seller should accept the idea that a 2 with only zeroes after it could be his best offer. If he really paid $5K for that, he's certainly hoping to find someone with money to burn that isn't very scrutinizing.
The seller is a nice guy and he has posted it on tb in GFS. We just couldn't come to terms. I might be hotter for it if The new NRs were not about to land.
Looks like he has reduced it to $2250. Still high for the condition isn't it?

Very high. I'd say the $1400 starting figure Scott offered was more than fair.
It's FS on tb and back on ebay with a opening bid of 2k, still to much imho. I have a feeling I may get a call if it fails to sell.
Opening bid now $1,965 steady,steady.

I'd rather have the new RI. Really, are these old NRs really worth it? I just can't justify it, as hard as I try.
$1,965 is still way to much, if he comes down to within reason Ill bite.
Good someone hit he opening bid of $1,965, now I can stop thinking about it.
opps wrong bass! Still no bids! I'm watching this puppy as well :) http://www.ebay.com/itm/130756159686?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

That's no bargain either but much better than the one with the berserk sanding job.
