This is for you rich guys.......
Speaking of '63 TBirds....were any of the early '63 ones TWO-PIECE necks?
Only asking because the early '63 Firebirds were originally two-piece before they switched over to the nine-piece style. Did they do the same with any of the basses?
The seller sure knows what he has, no doubt about that. Has any similar one sold for anywhere near this much?
Dream on. That price is laughable and it is not even one of that early batch that didn't yet have a nine-ply neck.
I see that the seller is "organdoctor". Perhaps he'll take a trade, say a kidney or half a liver.
Interesting bird. Is that an original Firebird guard?

George good eye! Sure looks like a original guard with the Firebird logo. Yet another Gibson anomaly.
I'd LOVE to have it...But I'd rather have a Thunderbird II!!!!

My 3 PUP TBird prototype also had an original pearl pickguard that had a Firebird logo on it, rahter than a TBird.
True, I have one just like that!
Just picked up a MINT 1965 Thunderbird II...reverse...I'm the second owner...Original owner bought it in 1971....Never learned to play bass...I have the hang tags, Mint case and covers...Nice big clubby neck like my blue one...and I just tried it out...It has the TONE!!!!!
Congratulations, Baz!
Thank you!!!
I thought there was a "pictures or it doesn't exist " rule around here. ;D
Congrats, Baz!
Congrats, Baz. Hope you got it for a lot less than the one on eBay.
Ok.
Original owner bought it new in 1971 and NEVER learned to play bass. I removed the original flatwound strings...This thing is a KILLER!!!!!!
Wow, congrats!! My holy grail still is a white, one pick up reversed Bird.
There's that one on Ebay......

LOL. Dream on, tune-o-matic.
I know, Right?
Stupid is the operative word here. Refin for sure, to be kind unrealistic price. I'm talking about the white one.
How about....some one buy a regular 60's bird...and refin it white???? that would sure the hell save ya a lot of money.....After I receive my NR from RS, I may ...May just have them shoot my unbroken, '65 Pelham Blue refin bird in Polaris White.....White is Ultimate for a T bird II....
I even thought of converting my very battered '76 Bird to a one pick up white one. But she's pretty as she is... Maybe I buy a newer Bird once, mount one chrome pick up and fill the hole, remove one volume pot, fill that hole too, refinish it. Maybe. Once.
