Title: Hendrix lives through his family!
Post by: drbassman on May 08, 2012, 06:55:52 AM
I had a treat last night at band practice.  Reggie Hendrix, a second cousin of Jimi came to jam with us.  He lives in Rochester and works with our lead guitar player.  It was incredible to hear him play.  Yep, he's left handed and an amazing guitarist and singer.  He's going to do guest appearances with us when we play, so I'm looking forward to that!  I'll be recording some tunes we play with him in a week or two and share them.  What fun!

Waitaminute: So Jimi Hendrix had a brother or sister. And that brother or sister had a son or daughter. And that brother or sister got a kid called Reggie.  ;D

Hey, if he's a good guitarist and singer that is great!
:toast:

I had never heard of him, but I did find this (http://painterfactory.com/forums/p/1229/5009.aspx) about Jimi's cousin Reggie. Makes you wonder.

Nice detective work nofi.  That's him.  I misspelled his name.  I didn't realize it was Regie.  So, did Jimi have a brother or sister?  I don't know.  I thought you only needed uncles and aunts to have cousins.  I might be wrong, genealogy was never my forte!

From www.geni.com:  Early life

Born Johnny Allen Hendrix on November 27, 1942, in Seattle, Washington, the first of five children to James Allen "Al" Hendrix (10 June 1919, Vancouver, British Columbia – 17 April 2002, Renton, Washington) and Lucille Jeter (12 October 1925, Seattle, Washington – 2 February 1958, Renton, Washington). Hendrix was part Cherokee, his paternal great-great grandmother being a full-blooded Cherokee from Georgia.

If I can confirm Regi's heritage, I will. I'll be seeing him again soon.

Why press him? Might be sensitive. If he can sing and play what difference does it make? After all we are all related ;)

No reason to press him.

The point of my link was that there was another person with the same name who died a few years ago and also claimed to be a cousin of Jimi. I'm skeptical of people who claim to be related to famous people. Especially when the person is copping the look and playing in the same style. Too many pretenders out there. But he could be related, who knows.

Believe me Dave I'm always skeptical!

My Great-Uncle Orville and my Uncle Leo always taught me to be skeptical.  ;)

No hard press here, just some conversations as we get to know each other better.  The my space clips are nice and show his talent, related or not.
