Doh!
I still want one. I need to keep a closer eye on eBay!!!
It's funny I was watching a bunch of things on ebay, a couple of Hiwatts, a Scehecter Ultra bass and a whole bunch more this thing spoke to me and over road all my other whims.........weird. The big plus is it was a lot less than everything else ;D
It's here! Beautiful little bass, not without it's flaws but still very very nice, Pics soon.
Pictures as promised :) The bass came strung with LaBella Deep Taking Flats 760FHB2 .039-.096 Great sounding strings I ordered them for my other Kliras and Hofner. The are designed specifically for Hofners. This bass is in great condition, note the rather plain one piece back. My first Klira with the open back tuners, I am surprised how well they work. The control knobs even have the little rubber rings!(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/newklira003.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/newklira004.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/newklira008.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/newklira007.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/newklira001.jpg)
All three together. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/3KlirasandaThunderbird004.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/3KlirasandaThunderbird003.jpg)

We need that one pretty often!
Vulture??? I thought I was more like a your favorite old uncle, offering to help out in a pinch! :vader:
Been using the Labella "Beatle Bass" .050 - .100 set on my Hofner for several years now, I like them much more than others I've used in the past.

Yes you may! But they will only deep for one more year. I'm filing my retirement papers for June 2013 tomorrow!!! Whoohoo! :toast:
LOL Congrats Bill! I thought your retirement was going to be quite profitable.
when you retire, unless you are huge bucks up you have to watch your spending. simple as that. be this a warning to the naive among us.

Well, let's put it this way. I plan on spending a lot on traveling and less on basses. Just a matter of priorities. I' m pretty happy with my collection and doing more with my wife and enjoying the world is much more enticing for the future.
I will step up my building and repairing as soon as I retire and profits from that will fund any bass buying in 2013. I also will do some consulting/adjunct teaching which should be helpful financially.
So Scott how do you compare the Klira(s) with your Hofner? For me they alwyas had everything I like about Hofner and a little heftier neck and because of the f holes a little more open sounding. I liked them both. What I did find for some reason on the Kliras ( after having 3-4 myself) was they had quite a few deadspots, whereas the Hofner (500/1&500/2s) never had any.
To be honest it has been a long time since I have used My Hofner or a Klira through a amp in a live situation. I seem to play both on the couch more than anything. I will have to get out my Hofie and the Kliras to see about the dead spots. I like the beefier neck on the Klira opposed to the thin neck on the Hofner. Early 356 basses had set neck but most have a bolt on. Though while not as sexy as a set neck they are not prone to failure. Playing unplugged I find the Klira a bit louder, must be the F holes. All in all I find Kliras a fantastic bargain and though not identical to a Hofner certainly it's equal especially compared to a post '65 Hofner, the quality seems to drop off on these imho as Hofner was really hogging them out to keep up with demand. It is difficult to be objective the Hofner carries so much Paul vibe, but I think side by side I like the Klira better and if you compare the price of a '65 Hofner over a '65 Klira I know I am leaning way towards the Klira !
