Give this one some time it builds, Jimmy does some tasty stuff through out :o Love his playing and tone talk about a bass heavy mix! http://youtu.be/OdvNg_2xTW8
sorry guys. i just don't get it.
In my opinion, Jimmy Lea is great! He's playing like he's gotten his root system together, concerning scales, though in a simplified way, like a rock version of Lee Sklar (with a bull-in-the-wardrobe sound!). I like it, a lot. Reminds me a bit of Gene Simmons.
What is that 3rd pickup he added?

Don't know (looks the same as the bridge PU) but I believe he had the mudbucker disconnected used just the bridge and the middle pickups. Judging by how he had the pickups in the white EB-3 and the John Birch bass.
Yep that's a John Birch pickup.

Gene Simmons was very influenced by Jim Lea and Slade. He has even gone so far as to say that without Slade there would be no KISS.

That's an old Lovin' Spoonful tune...I always liked them.
OK Let's derail this topic with something else then old WW II tanks & planes !
Big Spoonful fan here...... A bit too much for some ..... someone once got annoyed with my Spoonful write-ups and placed this photo-shopped cover on one of my ol' forums

I didn't pay much attention to them at first. Then Daydream, Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind and Summer In The City came along. All great singles that still sound great today.
They still tour today (without John Sebastian)...my son met them. He said they were really nice.
and without zal... not much of a band imo.
That tune, Summer in the city, is really up there among the great super pop tunes! Love those two short drum breakes.

I'm partial to "Nashville Cats", too.
According to Clapton, Summer In The City is White Room.
If it is, then it sounds harmonically a lot more elegant!!! TLS used some intricate harmonic combinations, way ahead of what other bands were doing in their time.

Then so is Tales of Brave Ullyses...or is it the other way around?

Dude! So, like, John Sebastian's brother time traveled into the future, heard White Room, went back and wrote Summer In The City! Far out!
Eric's memory must not be the best.
Dude, just yesterday I watched Marty McFly do the duck walk in Chuck Berry's nephew's band on a ES-345 in 1955 ??? and I tell you, it's been done ......... ;D
great movie!

Well, it IS called Back to the Future...
I remember seeing a Shure SM59 in an episode of Happy Days.

Correct! It's a John Birch Superflux - the same kind that's also in the neck position on that Telecaster in the video.
They had nine pole-pieces to create a blade effect so there was no drop off when string-bending. Of course that also meant that they could be used on guitar or bass = a market for guitarists & bassists without John Birch having to do more work.
Someone on here was so sad as to re-create that Telecaster!!

I rember that from a Peter Sellers movie...
He probably had an appointment and was in a hurry.
There are quite a few time-warp bloopers out there. I remember seeing one from the Daniel Boone TV series where right after a short fight scene, the camera pans and you can see a car parked on a road -- in late-1700s Kentucky. I haven't found that one on YT yet, but I did find this one where a plane's vapor trail is visible as the character played by Jimmy Dean walks away.

Movie and TV continuity mistakes are always fun. I have to find out which Biblical movie has telephone lines in the background (no, they are not crucifixes). Here's a few others I found online:
crew member in a cowboy hat, T-shirt and shades

............... meanwhile back at the thread......
Jimmy was using 4 x Accoustic 361s(??) :P by 1973 and handed his very obscure SNS tranny amps & cabs to be split between Nod & Dave; which meant they were using about 500w each.
Dave on that EB3 for the first one; Jimmy on the second song.

One of the DeMille epics has a shot of two Roman-era armies charging together across a desert and there's supposedly a tire sticking out of the sand in the background.

It's mentioned in the link I posted.
