Title: New bass day!
Post by: FrankieTbird on January 17, 2012, 03:51:44 PM
Just got this beauty -

Surprisingly, it's a really nice instrument.  Finish is nice, weight is pretty decent, and the strings are spaced properly.  Frets and neck are nice, and the bridge is fairly good quality (even tho it's the F-style).  I haven't plugged it in yet but I'm not expecting a whole lot from the pickups.  Single-pickup model would have been way cool for me, but for only two hundy, I can't complain much.

Who else here has one of these?  Anyone know the type of wood used?  Doesn't look much like mahogany.

I bought the very last one from Rondo Music in '06 for $200, I agree the quality is very good, made in Korea.  Fender string spacing.  Stock pickups are better than the BaCH Artecs IMO, mine currently has a pair of SDs in it.  Neck is maple, body might be alder.  I was watching yours to see what they're bringing these days.  Enjoy!

Will the ThunderBuckers drop into the Artec routes?  Seems to me the sizing may be just a hair off?  I'm sure the 'Buckers would sound real sweet in there, but would nearly triple the price of the bass - don't know if I can do it.

Thunderbird size routes are a little larger.
