Title: New guy saying hello
Post by: popp on November 18, 2011, 02:49:41 AM
G'day all,

I am from Bremen, Germany,

my search for some info about non reverse T-birds led me to this forum.
I read a bit through the projects section - very cool. I am (more or less) working on a plan
for a non reverse firebird for some time now. After a while I realized that the body
shape is identical to the NR T-bird (seems like Gibson used the same bodies for both guitars and basses).
So, with a little extra work I have a plan for both... we'll see.  :-\ I just need to find the time to finish the plan.

My main forum is offsetguitars where I also have a thread on the subject.

Here's a sneak peek:

Best,
M.

Hi Popp, welcome!

Great plan.
Coincidentally I've been talking to BaCH about making a NR Firebird lately!
Keep us posted on your project

Thanks,

for now, I also have a tracing of an original FB NR 12string - I will use this to re-check my drawing - Big thanks to brillant Australian guitar maker Harvester for doing this! He also send me a headstock tracing that he made from a FB NR copy (Greco? I am not sure). It looks pretty accurate. I've also collected tons of photos from all around the web. Geek stuff. :P

Hello Popp, and welcome.

Here is the story of how the Bachbird came to life (continued from a now defunct BBS)

Oooh, this is a very long read. I'm at work right now... so I have to wait until tonight.
I thought about getting my hands on a BaCHbird, too. The unfinished one. I'm not so
happy about the back cavity routing... the overall shape looks very promising though.

Welcome Here!

Okay, the thread is already half a page long, can we please discuss WWII aircraft or the love that dare not speak it's name  ;)

There was a WWII fighter flying above where I live in The Netherlands some weeks ago. I was driving my car, so I couldn't identify it, but I guess it was British.

That side by side pic looks very promising!

@uwe: YES, M..A..S..T..E..R...   :P

Na, I'm self employed, so it's not that bad to surf the interwebs... I do feel a lot of pressure since my clients expect me to work for them all day and night and I'm bound to very strict deadlines.

Can't say much about WWII and grandpa is long gone unfortunately - I can't ask him. I'm born '72 and highly influenced by Steven Spielberg and 80's music. ;)

I've posted a couple of basses that I own in the bass section --- here's the link: http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=6333.0 (http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=6333.0)

Spielberg? Spielberg equates Saving Private Ryan equates make-believe SS Tiger Panzers that were actually modified T-34 and - voilà! - vee haff a discuSSion already:

Doesn't take much to set us off here. In all directions.

But we have long phases of normality too.  ;)

I think those Tiger/T-34s were the same tanks used in "Kellys' Heroes"!

Being a pedant, and with Uwe bringing TANKS into the equation (probably whilst marching round "Ze Kollection" in his mirrorshine jackboots ;D), I'd best point out that Spielberg first "featured" with a TANK(er) in "DUEL" - hauled by a Peterbilt...

"Duel" is a badass movie. You see LOTS of "Jaws" before "Jaws" happened in it.
