When did they switch from 3 latches, to 4 latches ?

I have a 62 and it is three.
Brown with orange interior.

The case for my '63 P has three catches...tan with orange interior.

Molded rectangular Fender bass cases have 4.  Or at least the one I have did until it was run over.  Pretty sure all the bass plywood cases have 3.
