A 5000 watt Class D Terror Bass.
Adrian Emsley told me it was only a showpiece and there were no concrete plans to actually take these into production.

I think that would be the equivalent of the 300-HP, V-8 powered chainsaw recently linked here. A combination of "more power" and "too much is not enough".
Most clubs would need an electrical service upgrade to be able to handle it. The Terror part would come when you get trampled by the audience trying to escape the electrical fire.
Note that the last three notches on the volume and gain are orange. That's the danger zone...
Hah! Awesome! ;D ;D ;D
Note that you can only get 2400 watts MAXIMUM out of a standard 20A 120v or 10A 240v circuit and class D designs are particulary wall-current hungry and even at their best, 60-80% efficient, so that "5000 watt" amp is at best, only going to put out 1920 watts, and that will only be on peaks. Anything above a sustained 600 watt output for bass will trip the breaker, because as frequencies drop, current demand increases even without an accompanying rise in output voltage.
PBG, you're such a killjoy! :P
Nope; just a fan of iron and caps.
Maybe it had two bridged power amps?
The whole amp was a joke of Adrian Emsley. Obviously only meant as a showpiece.
I wonder how many people actually noticed it said 5000 watts on the face plate.

Again, a very clear and succinct summation. This is stuff I know from researching things before I buy but if I had to explain it to someone I'd make a mess of it.
Thanks PBG
